If the government can tell us we can't go to church...

Churchgoers are so discriminated against

...we have no freedom at all.

A very bad precedent has been set. To "save lives" the states have prohibited Christians from attending church.

Next time, they won't need a good reason to prohibit us from attending church.

Then, will come the day when the churches are closed permanently, as they were in Communist countries.

We should have fought them to keep our churches open.

The ONLY reason the church want live services is to get the money from the collection plates. There is no other reason for congregants to gather in the church. Any Church that insists that members attend services in person, does not have your best interests at heart.

Churches everywhere have been holding online services for months. Those that haven't are seeing a lot of deaths in their congregations.

Yeah so they can give the money to widows, orphans, you know what religion is about James 1:27

You can't paint a broad brush and not all preachers have jet airplanes.

The money does NOT go to widows and orphans. It's goes to the Minister and upkeep on the church. I'm not talking mega churches or ministers with jet airplanes. I'm talking the local church on the corner. If you want to donate to charity, your local church is the least likely to give to the poor, because all of their donations go to building and salaries.

My congregation spent every dollar that went into the collection plate on our building and salary for our minister. Those things get paid first. If there's anything left over, it's spent on helping the poor. We had nothing left over. If not for our elderly congregants dying and leaving tens of thousands of dollars to the church we would have gone under years ago.

A congregation is not allowed to call a minister without the funds necessary to pay them, but most small congregation struggle financially to pay those for basic things like buildings and salaries. There are churches who share ministers and stagger times for Sunday Services so their minister can make all of the services each Sunday. Our church had a 3/4 time minister, so we could pay a 3/4 salary rather than a full one.

Our biggest expense was a 100 year old sanctuary, with the classic vaulted ceiling. The furnace gave out and a new one for a complex this large, cost us $50,000. We had a large finished basement and an office complex for the church. We rented out the office complex at market rent to another non-profit, which helped a lot with our cash flow. But even with the rents, coming in, we would have gone broke without our trust funds.

When a minister insists on a congregant attending services in person - he/she needs the dollars in the collection plate. It's not greed or avarice. This is where their grocery money comes from.
