Is The Bible Evidence Of Anything?

The stories are memorable.. Perhaps the message is more important than the supernatural aspects of the tale.
I understand and agree to a certain degree. It's the lies and rubbish that should be illegal to be taught to children.
We all know there is no God which puts the whole bible in the same category but there are people who will not accept those facts.

The bible contains much witness testimony. Witness testimony is acceptable as evidence in every court of law.
In many cases, biblical events have more than one witness to say they happened.
Evidence of:

DRUG ABUSE...lots and lots of drug abuse.

Talking animals always means FABLES....Its not nice to call them lies.
Agree. Calling a fable a lie using the premise animals don't talk is being ignorant of what a fable is. It is a moral being conveyed by talking animals. Everyone understands that snakes and donkeys don't talk. Everyone. The best way to illustrate one is uneducated or unknowledgeable is to dismiss fables as lies. At the very minimum people should be able to identify the moral being taught by the fable and then whether they agree or disagree with that moral.

The moral being? Like the one who drowned almost everyone because he got fed up with them?

Really? The story of Noah's ark has only been explained here on the average of once every three months. No one needs to keep existing in that uneducated mode.

If the bible is so moral and good, why all the killing? Especially by god? That's not my god.

Have you located the moral to each story? Often death is the setting in which the moral takes place. Early man held certain beliefs--that nothing happened outside the will of God, even to the extent that one cannot bend one's finger less it be the will of God. Yet is is also understood when it comes to doing good and evil, we do have a choice. Today, while we understand the concept that since God put everything in motion, ultimately we could call it all "The Will of God", there are usually more immediate acts that result in death. For example, Sodom and Gomorrah were struck by a natural extra terrestrial event. Yet the main moral of that story is hospitality.

The moral of each story is that killing is not important, what's important is the moral of the story.

Not at all. The beginning of understanding Hebrew scripture is the background knowledge--even conviction--that God is love and that we should love the people around us. In Hebrew scripture, killing is the conflict to be resolved so that people can live their lives following God and His Commandments.

An issue for most atheists is modern English and modern Western culture. They read Hebrew scriptures in modern English with a modern Western culture perspective, and they get everything backwards because of their lack of understanding of God and the way/reasons He is being portrayed in Hebrew from the perspective of an ancient culture.

Typical cop-out post. People you disagree with are ignorant of the truth. YAWN! :bigbed:

I did not say that. I simply pointed out that the Hebrew language and ancient culture have much different perspectives from modern English and modern Western culture. There is no need for you to feel defensive. If anything, it just may give you a better understanding of why many of us do not see God and scripture the same way you do.

So is everybody right? Or only those that agree with you?
