Jennifer Rubin, a former Romney spokesperson and Washington Post columnist, certainly let the GOP political structure have it across its noggin.

This pundit spared no punches in her criticism (and, I would guess, her party's chances of taking the WH) when she wrote the following:

Anyone can run for president, but pundits and voters don’t have to indulge loony conspiracy theories or consider candidates who don’t accept the basic premise of our constitutional government. Responsible conservatives should follow [National Review editor Rich] Lowry’s lead — name and shame — lest the GOP be seen as a haven for the unhinged. It is only when they are repeatedly and consistently called out that pols will stop fanning the flames of paranoia and ignorance.

As a progressive democrat, I must say that no one on my side of the aisle could have stated it BETTER.

The GOP should take her advice and eject her out. She is, after all, one of the unhinged.

A "Washington Post columnist hits the GOP on the noggin". How surprising.

If you did NOT have reading and comprehension disabilities, you'd have understood that she is a former Romney operative and a staunch republican....

But we all know that you're a slow reader....so, take your time.

:itsok: Thank goodness there's none of those "unhinged" types hovering around the Democrat party....

Maybe she suffers from coulrophobia...in which case her rant is perfectly understandable.

Even a radical hate filled left winger should understand that she worked for Romney and he lost. The term "staunch republican" is a phrase often exaggerated in a conversation based on a left wing blog.

Maybe if the rest of you R-W'ers didn't have such difficulty in reading simple English, you'd see that she is quoting Rich Lowry about the "unhinged" quip......and Lowry is an ULTRA conservative.

First of all Jennifer Rubin has never been considered to be a political genius. She isn't quoting Rich Lowry. She is paraphrasing Rich Lowry.. The post is based on her opinion of Conservatives which might have been a factor in Romney's defeat.

But waidaminnit: Romney called himself "severely Conservative".

Was that not the case? Was he lying, then?

You are asking that they discern. You are being very, very cruel to them.

Discernment and knuckledragging go together like Crispy Creme donuts and buzzsaws.

:D

He probably thought of himself as conservative because he surrounded himself with people like Rubin. Unfortunately for Romney his brand of conservatism didn't match mainstream America.

Her advice and opinions would hold a lot more weight if we could say the words President Romney right now. In case it slipped her memory the last two Republican nominees for President were not hard right conservatives but moderate middle of the road to be polite about it Republicans who could not get the win.

Indeed, my mistake in stating "quoting" instead of "paraphrasing" Rich Lowry...By the way, do you say "tomatos" or "tomatoes"?

Well, yours is a reasoned response and perhaps Rubin isn't as hard right as Gengish Khan....but shouldn't we be glad that she isn't?

However hopeful that some on the right might realize that the GOP has been misappropriated by reckless, irresponsible extremists, nothing is going to change until all republicans of good faith find the political courage to reject that reckless, irresponsible extremism.

We should then rejoice that your brand of "mainstream America" is less than 50%, don't you think?
