Schlafly is correct. One of the reasons republicans lose nationally is because they concentrate on Hispanic minorities and not white majorities. Democrats understand this very well and never worry about losing the NRA vote.
Republicans lose because republicans stay home. Overall, fewer people voted in the last election than voted in 2008. Had republicans given some kind of nod to whites, Romney would have won.

On Thursdays The Last Word show on MSNBC, host Lawrence ODonnell and MSNBC contributor Joy Reid asserted that Republicans who oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants are haters of and dont like Hispanics as the panel discussed the concerns expressed by Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh about increasing the number of immigrants in the U.S. by tens of millions.
After coining the term Limbaugh cohort to refer to those who oppose amnesty, Reid asserted:
The polls show that, right now, Hispanics tend to favor Democratic policies. And again, they dont have confidence that they can ever change that because they dont like these people. Its hard to get people to vote for you when you dont like them.
ODonnell soon introduced the word haters as he repeated Reids point:

On Saturday, CBS News reported on the elections in Iran by comparing the mullahs to the Tea Party. Reporter Elizabeth Palmer said, discussing the new president, Hassan Rahjani, Well, he was seen as the most reform-minded of all the candidates who ran this time, that being said, they were all very conservative. In US terms it was as if all the candidates for the presidency came from the Tea Party.
Except for the part about the Iranian regime murdering gays, cracking down on free speech, preventing the free exercise of religion, hating Israel, and despising the United States, the comparison is spot-on.
