Random Truths

okay this is a political forum, will stay on topic:

There are so many conservative commentators, and conversations, that have contributed to these truths....you may recognize some of your words, as well.....

  1. The Left survives on demonization of the Right…rather than debating ideas: they teach their drones that the Right is not wrong, but evil…
  2. The minute you envy another, your happiness is injured, and breeds unhappiness. Religious folks tend to be happy with what they have. Thus Marx hated that view because the Utopia had to be here and now…
  3. Government must be limited in scope Madison: laws must be simple clear few. Must be understood by all: otherwise it is government by experts, bureaucrats and technocrats. a. Sure enough, Liberals snap to attention when they hear 'studies show....'
  4. Unlimited opportunity can only come with limited government.
  5. What leftism has done to every profession is to put leftism above being good at the task…
    a. Famine under communist rule in the USSR is a perfect example.

    6. The danger is not a man like Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting the office of the presidency to a man like Barack Obama

    7. The mind of the Liberal: Whatever they imagine, they believe must be imposed.

    8. For Liberals, wishful thinking substitutes for an understanding of reality…thus…the view of the Arab Spring as a good thing…and overthrowing of Mubarak in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood

    9. We want liberty…but mistakenly say democracy…you can have democracy but deprive people of liberty (see Egypt)

    10. If the desire is for a ‘level playing field,’ how to explain progressive income tax?

1. Well that's a lie. The right is WRONG. The results of their wrong-headed thinking can be found in the decline of the American Middle Class that began with the Reagan changes to the tax code. Until Reagan changed the basic economy, their middle and working class had savings, increasing income, and a high level of financial security. Since Reagan changed the tax code, money has flowed steadily to the top, at the expense of the middle and working class.

Republicans have been in a fit of anger since Nixon resigned. They have been so focused on taking down a Democrat President in the same way. It hasn't happened. But over 150 members of Reagan's administration were arrested for selling arms to the Contras and running an illegal war that Congress knew nothing about.

When they have been in power, every Republican President has started a war for no good reason. It has drained the economy and the US, which used to boast the best infrastructure in the world, is starting to fall apart as successive Republican Presidents have squandered the resources of the nation on foreign wars which have done nothing for your image abroad.

2. Your religious rightwingers are certainly not happy with what they have. They want everyone to be Christian, to have the right to inflict their religious beliefs on the rest of the population. Take your Westborough Baptists, for example. They don't seem like happy people. Nor do the religious right-wingers protesting abortion clinics. Those people want to take away the right of women to make decisions about their families, based on their beliefs. No one is forcing these religious people to have abortions that they believe are wrong. There is clear evidence that God doesn't think every fetus is sacred, since 1/3 of all pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion, but if we interfere with "God's plan", it's murder. No it's not, it's religious bullying.

3. This is word salad. Meaningless. What does laws being "simple and clear" have to do with "limited government". But since YOU brought up limited government, please explain how it is that the size of the government payroll, and the number of government employees always swells under Republicans, and declines under Democrats? The SIZE of government, something you conservatives are always going on about, increased under Reagan, and under W. W created a whole new (unfunded) government department - Homeland Security, which has since been responsible for some of the biggest government boondoggles since it's inception, including the botched response to Hurricane Katrina.

4. Bullshit. Unlimited opportunity comes from a level playing field. If I'm a small manufacturer who can't afford to offshore my manufacturing, I'm going to lose out to large multinationals who can go to Third World Countries with lax pollution standards, and slave wages. People have ceased to matter to the elites. Populations are just faceless mobs to be manipulated and used. But not given a fair chance.

Ivy league universities have a "legacy" policy for students. You really think that W got into Princeton because of his marks? If his Daddy hadn't been a Princeton graduate, W would have attended State college. Celebrities like Natalie Portman or Brook Shields can go anywhere they want, but unless you are a legacy, you're in competition with every kid with aspirations of going to Princeton, for the remaining spaces. Being rich and making a big donation can get your kid in though.

And you people have the balls to claim that programs which move minorities to the front of the line are "discriminatory".

5. More word salad. Sounds profound but it's meaningless babble. For starters, "leftism" hasn't done anything to professions or professionals. Your example of Stalin in the USSR is poorly chosen. What do the principals and view of left wing politics have to do with a famine under an authoritarian dictator of a failed form for government? Why, when discussing left wing politics in a North American democracy, do you bring up authoritarian dictators in the USSR all? There is nothing relevant in such a comparison.

6. Obama has reduced the deficit, increased unemployment, overseen the recovery of the housing market, the auto industry and stock market, killed Bin Laden, and conducted foreign policy such that the world is now closer to being at peace than at any time in its history. If Obama was a white Republican, you'd be canonizing him. Obama is no danger to the US. The danger is that you would vilify such a man because of the party he represents, or the colour of his skin.

7. Another conservative myth, and really more indicative of conservatives than liberals. Conservatives want to police women's washrooms, have the right to discriminate against others on "religious" grounds, refuse women their consititutational right to privacy with her doctor by imposing unnecessary and expensive tests and indoctrination regard her decision to terminate a pregnancy. How much time and money does it cost these women to conform with waiting periods, mandatory counselling, and unnecessary ulta-sounds? These are impositions of freedom loving conservatives. Conservatives talk the talk, but it's liberals who keep pushing for minority rights. This whole election of Donald Trump is about angry white guys pushing back.

8. You don't want liberty. You want conservatism, which is, by its very nature, the opposite of freedom. Conservatives don't want gays to have the freedom to marry, adopt or have families. They want to discriminate against those who are different - gays, Muslims, people who aren't white. They don't want women to have the right to chose. Anything that really does mean "freedom", conservatives oppose. "Conserve" the status quo is right in their names.

This conservative backlash which resulted in the nomination of Donald Trump is exactly the type of right-wing reactionary conservative response one would expect to the recent freedoms for gays, blacks and Muslims and the perceived loss of power of white men.

9. A level playing field and a progressive tax are similar how? Why is a level playing field such an scary prospect to you. If you're getting ahead due to your education and abilities, why aren't you happy with that? Could it be perhaps that you know that's an illusion. It's an old boys network and an old white boys network at that. Looking at the whiter than white Republican Party, it's easy to see why they're afraid of the Democrats. It's because they're not all white men. They're not all men either. I know PC needs a daddy to tell her what to think, but the rest of us can do fine making up our own minds.
PeeCee,

1. When you are made to look the silly fool you are, why do you always ask "You're a government school grad.."?
2. Instead of dithering on for eight paragraphs about northern Europe, why don't you simply apply YOUR no. 7 "random truth" to the problem Americans have with the EpiPen FACTS?
3. "..PoliticlChic is never wrong." “Cherish those who seek the truth but beware of those who find it.” Voltaire

"why do you always ask "You're a government school grad.."?

Because an answer in the affirmative explains the indoctrination.

Socialism is a howlinig success. I know, living in that socialist hellhole, Canada, which provides cradle to the grave social programs AND manages to enjoy a standard of living second to none, while the US continues to decline in education, health care, infrastructure, and further into poverty.

" The results of their wrong-headed thinking can be found in the decline of the American Middle Class that began with the Reagan changes to the tax code. Until Reagan changed the basic economy,...."

Really?

  1. Under Reagan, the debt went up $1.7 trillion, from $900 billion to $2.6 trillion.
  2. But….the national wealth went up $ 17 trillion
  3. Reagan's near-trillion-dollar bulge in defense spending transformed the global balance of power in favor of capitalism. Spurring a stock-market, energy, venture-capital, real-estate and employment boom, the Reagan tax-rate cuts and other pro-enterprise policies added some $17 trillion to America's private-sector assets, dwarfing the trillion-dollar rise in public-sector deficits and creating 45 million net new jobs at rising wages and salaries.

Reaganomics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And the tax cuts of the Economic Recovery Act of 1981 stimulated economic growth. “As a 1982 JEC study pointed out,[1] similar across-the-board tax cuts had been implemented in the 1920s as the Mellon tax cuts, and in the 1960s as the Kennedy tax cuts. In both cases the reduction of high marginal tax rates actually increased tax payments by "the rich," also increasing their share of total individual income taxes paid.” http://www.house.gov/jec/fiscal/tx-grwth/reagtxct/reagtxct.htm

“As inflation came down and as more and more of the tax cuts from the 1981 Act went into effect, the economic began a strong and sustained pattern of growth.” http://www.ustreas.gov/education/fact-sheets/taxes/ustax.shtml

    1. The economy grew at a 3.4% average rate…compared with 2.9% for the previous eight years, and 2.7% for the next eight.(Table B-4)
    2. Inflation rate dropped from 12.5% to 4.4%. (Table B-63)
    3. Unemployment fell to 5.5% from 7.1% (Table B-35)
    4. Prime interest rate fell by one-third.(Table B-73)
    5. The S & P 500 jumped 124% (Table B-95) http://www.gpoaccess.gov/eop/tables10.html

African Americans received a “bonus” of 230 points, Lee says.

Asian Americans, Lee says, are penalized by 50 points — in other words, they had to do that much better to win admission.

" For Asian Americans, a changing landscape on college admissions

.... a Princeton University study that tried to measure how race and ethnicity affect admissions by using SAT scores as a benchmark. It uses the term “bonus” to describe how many extra SAT points an applicant's race is worth. She points to the first column.

African Americans received a “bonus” of 230 points, Lee says.

“Hispanics received a bonus of 185 points.

The last column draws gasps.

Asian Americans, Lee says, are penalized by 50 points — in other words, they had to do that much better to win admission.

So....ready to admit you're a bigoted moron?

The progressive income tax is a level playing field. Do you realize that the tax rate in the lowest bracket is the same for billionaires as it is for people whose only income is in the lowest bracket?

There are so many conservative commentators, and conversations, that have contributed to these truths....you may recognize some of your words, as well.....

  1. The Left survives on demonization of the Right…rather than debating ideas: they teach their drones that the Right is not wrong, but evil…
  2. The minute you envy another, your happiness is injured, and breeds unhappiness. Religious folks tend to be happy with what they have. Thus Marx hated that view because the Utopia had to be here and now…

  4. Unlimited opportunity can only come with limited government.
  5. What leftism has done to every profession is to put leftism above being good at the task…

“The Death of Feminism,” by Phyllis Chesler

1. "Academic feminists who received tenure, promotion, and funding, tended to be pro-abortion, pro-pornography (anti-censorship), pro-prostitution (pro-sex workers), pro-surrogacy, and anti-colonialist, anti-imperialist, and anti-American…proponents of simplistic gender-neutrality (women and men are exactly the same) or essentialist: men and women are completely different, and women are better. They are loyal to their careers and their cliques, not to the truth. [In their writing, they] have pretended that brilliance and originality can best be conveyed in a secret, Mandarin language that absolutely no one, including themselves, can possibly understand…and this obfuscation of language has been employed to hide a considerable lack of brilliance and originality and to avoid the consequences of making oneself clear."

19. "That basic math is why middle class incomes have been in decline under Obama. The Census Bureau reports that since Obama became President 7 years ago, real median household income has fallen by $1,300 a year. Heritage Foundation Chief Economist Steve Moore explained in testimony before the Ways and Means Committee, “At 2 percent growth the economy doesn’t spin off enough jobs to increase wages, and tax revenues grow much too slowly to balance the budget.”

The recession officially ended more than 6 years ago. Wages and incomes have always grown in recoveries, not declined. Moreover, the American historical record is the deeper the recession, the stronger the recovery. The economy is supposed to boom in a recovery to catch up with its long term economic growth trendline. But over 6 years after the recession ended, that still has not happened. Instead, what we have gotten under President Obama is the worst recovery from a recession since the Great Depression." http://limittaxes.org/2016/02/realizing-the-super-bowl-of-american-economic-growth/

22. Middle aged people laid off and unable to find work are taking another way out. They're killing themselves. Suicide rates are soaring, according to federal data released last week. Especially in economically depressed states and job-starved upstate New York. People in need of work are twice as likely to take their own lives as employed people, and people fired in their forties and fifties find it hardest to get hired again.

That makes boosting economic growth a life- and- death issue. But you wouldn't know it listening to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. President Obama whitewashes reality, claiming the "American economy is pretty darn good right now."

Underscoring the report's weakness, employers hired 59,000 fewer workers in March and April than previously reported. While the unemployment rate fell three-tenths of a percentage point to 4.7 percent in May, the lowest since November 2007, that was in part due to people dropping out of the labor force." https://ca.news.yahoo.com/u-job-gains-may-likely-dented-verizon-strike-043534655--business.html

".PoliticlChic is never wrong." “Cherish those who seek the truth but beware of those who find it.” Voltaire

As you were unable to dispute my post re: socialism is admitted failure, your Voltaire quote certainly doesn't apply.

But...you have helped verify rules 1 and 2:
Rule #1: PoliticalChic is never wrong.
Rule #2 See rule #1.

Let me guess - you were home schooled by a someone who was terrifed at a left wing march back in the 60's.

Socialism is a howlinig success. I know, living in that socialist hellhole, Canada, which provides cradle to the grave social programs AND manages to enjoy a standard of living second to none, while the US continues to decline in education, health care, infrastructure, and further into poverty.

"You don't want liberty. You want conservatism, which is, by its very nature, the opposite of freedom."

As with every other topic, you have no clue as to what conservatives are.

Quick lesson:

1) Conservatives believe that there are moral truths, right and wrong, and that these truths are permanent. The result of infracting these truths will be atrocities and social disaster. Liberals believe in a privatization of morality so complete that no code of conduct is generally accepted, practically to the point of ‘do what you can get away with’. These beliefs are aimed at the gratification of appetites and exhibit anarchistic impulses.

2) Conservatives believe that custom and tradition result in individuals living in peace. Law is custom and precedent. Liberals are destroyers of custom and convention. To a conservative, change should be gradual, as the new society is often inferior to the old. We build on the ideas and experience of our ancestors. The species is wiser than the individual (Burke).

3) Liberals are impulsive, and imprudent. They believe in quick changes, and risk new abuses worse than the ‘evils’ that they would sweep away, since remedies are usually not simple. Plato said that prudence is the mark of the statesman. There should be a balance between permanence and change, while liberals see ‘progress’ as some mythical direction for society.

4) Conservatives believe in the principle of variety, while liberal perspectives result in a narrowing uniformity. Conservatives believe in choice of healthcare, education, religion, and various other areas. Under conservative principles, there will be differences in class, material condition and other inequalities. Equality will be of opportunity, not necessarily of result. The only uniformity will be before the law. Society will not be perfect. Consider the results of the rule of ideologues of the last century.

5) Freedom and property are linked. Private property results in a more stable and productive society. Private property and retaining the fruits of one’s labor has been proven successful from the Puritan’s Bradford, to the Stakhanovite Revolution!

6) Conservatives believe in voluntary community and charity, based on duties to each other, with the assumption that each person must do whatever he could to avoid requiring assistance, as opposed to involuntary collectivism, as in “let the government do it..” Burke's understanding that the "little platoon" - family, neighborhood, professional organizations etc - is the "first principle" of society has been consistently identified as providing the necessary inspiration for conservativism. And explains why conservatives give more to charity than liberals.

7) Conservatives view people as both good and bad, and for this reason believe on restraints on power, as in checks and balances, while liberals see power as a force for good, as long as the power is in their hands.

8) Liberals and Conservatives differ in the way to proceed. For Conservatives, data informs policy. (“More Guns, Less Crime” and “Mass murderers apparently can’t read, since they are constantly shooting up ‘gun-free zones.’”- Coulter) We use Conservative principles to the best of our ability, but when confronting new and original venues, we believe in testing, and analysis of the results of the tests. For liberals, feeling passes for knowing; it is based on emotion often to the exclusion of thinking.

9) Conservatives view results differently from Liberals. Liberals respond to success and material wealth with envy and hostility, encourage class warfare and an attempt to obviate any chance that it might happen again. The exception is when it is a Liberal with the wealth. Conservatives see success as the validation and culmination of the application of Conservative principles, most prominently Liberty.

10) Since Liberals see their view as a higher calling that that of Conservatives, they mistakenly believe that it is entirely appropriate for then to use, not logic, facts, nor accepted debating techniques, but ad hominem attacks on the physical appearance, personal history, or imaginary mental defects. Notice how the Liberal replaces intellect with emotion. This is, no doubt, based on a medieval concept of recognizing witches and demons. In fact, Liberals attempt to deal with opponents in similar fashion: recall Clarence Thomas’ “High Tech Lynching.”

Understand the above and you may be a bit less of a moron.

But...still a moron.

Actually...no, I wasn't.
I just went to far better schools than you.

"Socialism is a howlinig success."
Really?

Then why not name the Democrat Party what it is...the Socialist Party.

You know why.

Socialism is no different in aims and aspirations than communism.
You fear folks figuring that out....that's why you flip-flopped the names Red State and Blue State.

So...we agree?
You're a moron, and will change your avi to "MoronLady" post haste???

Excellent.

So far I have provided 130 'Random Truths,' adherence to which would make for an informed outlook and a successful life.

Today, another ten undeniable statements meant to explain what is right and what is wrong.

There are so many conservative commentators, and conversations, that have contributed to these truths....you may recognize some of your words, as well.....
See if you can disagree with any of these ten

131. Society must help the indigent, not the irresponsible. Something, some personal improvement, some dividend for society should be expected.

"Since productive activity not making any economic sense because of the work disincentives of the welfare plantation, other kinds of activities proliferate: drug and alcohol abuse, crime, recreational sex, illegitimacy, and family breakup are the new social norms, as does the culture of violence." Peter Ferrara, “America’s Ticking Bankruptcy Bomb,” chapter five.

132. Public largesse, generosity, welfare, is as difficult an addiction to break as heroin. A close look at plans indicates that it is meant to buy votes rather than improve the human condition.

"81% of people receiving public housing benefits vote Democratic – and that’s just the tip of the handout iceberg."
81% of people receiving public housing benefits vote Democratic – and that’s just the tip of the handout iceberg

133. Many who are anti-religion demand to be convinced that God exists.
A more productive avenue is to ask an atheist:
does he hope he is right, or hope he is wrong.

134. Government Healthcare will always fail: take private companies out of healthcare, and there will never be cost containment. Housing market, the same.

The answer is the free market. It is not perfect; it is simply better than state control. It is the one that has to respond quickly and effectively to dissatisfaction and to demand. In the free market, if a product or service does not please, it is discontinued. Compare that to government persistence and expansion of programs that proven to have failed decades ago: farm subsidies, aid to Africa, busing, etc.

The unspoken and unrecognized assumption is that there exists some mechanism that can distribute goods and services. The only such mechanism is, and must be, the totalitarian state.
a. To believe this, one must accept that there exists some equation by which the state can fairly and honestly control human exchange. Here we go: increasing taxes to increase programs to increase happiness to allow equality…all of which ends up in dictatorship.
David Mamet, 'The Secret Knowledge"

Why do women claim to want equality in the non-porn sector, but have no qualms practicing inequality, in the porn sector?

Here's a plan....how about you get lost?
this is what i mean; you have not been "porning me", so this is the non-porn sector as far as I am concerned; and your fallacious response, really is worthless for argumentation purposes, in the non-porn sector. why complain about "earning what you are worth", in the non-porn sector?

135. Liberals feel entitled to use any unfair methods and double standards against conservatives because they claim the other side isn't just wrong, but they are evil.
Yet.....
...in order to be moral, one must hate evil. The Left doesn't hate evil...it hates inequality.
As Dennis Prager has written, the Left has been far more interested in fighting material inequality than tyranny, which is why Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Castro, etc., tend to have the support of Leftists around the world.
Hence, Leftism is not a moral worldview.

136. Freedom of choice for Liberals only seems to apply to drugs, sex, and other people's money.
