Senate Impeachment Trial Thread.

Do you agree that it is impeachable if a President were to release the nuclear codes or divulge our top secrets to an enemy nation state? A President can declassify any intelligence.

Strawman. That is irrelevant as it has never happened.
Neither has extorting a nation state for political gain until it did.
No, but Joe Biden has been bragging that he did.
That is deflection from the current discussion.

Is that why the Supreme Court had to slap down Obumma 13 times for violating the Constitution and exceeding his presidential powers?

Wouldn't Abuse of Power be exceeding them? Yet, number of times SCOTUS has censured Trump?

ZERO.
Republicans controlled the House and they could have started impeachment proceedings against Obama and did not.

And? Point being?
The president can use his executive privilege and refuse to be subpoenaed. Those are the facts. Cry all you want. At this point, what difference does it make?
Any privilege is not absolute. Once again if you were actually listening to Schiff and not Fox News, Schiff addressed the issue.

He can claim executive privilege over his documents as well.

If you claim executive privilege for documents , you have to produce those documents. Those documents can have redactions. Then you fight the redactions in court. That is why Trump made no claim of privilege in the House, I believe.

Executive privilege is the constitutional principle that permits the president and high-level executive branch officers to withhold information from Congress, the courts, and ultimately the public.

What you are claiming is the President can do as he wishes and nobody can challenge him

Mueller said a President can’t be prosecuted, Congress must impeach
You say they can’t even impeach him because of executive privilege

No, they could challenge it, but they didn't. They didn't do shit, because they knew they would fail.

I thought he was already "impeached?" :D Make up your collective mind, leftists.

I take this to mean you agree that the current article of impeachment are trash.
I’m asking a simple question.
Then lay out the case of exactly what happened and asked it; don't play gotcha.

It is not a gotcha question. What I am trying to figure out is that once Trump is acquitted, which he will be, what then crosses the line into impeachment. Is there any line that can be crossed?

They did challenge that
That is how we ended up with impeachment

By which you mean to say it would be ok for a Democrat but not for a Republican; however in this case we know that Biden/Obama "extorted" Ukraine in order to cover up the Hunter Biden scandal before the 2016 election in order to help the Democrats but no evidence has been presented that President Trump's dealings with Ukraine were for political gain. So by your standards if Biden should win the WH, it would be appropriate to immediately impeach him.

He is impeached
Republicans refuse to convict regardless of what he does

But again, Republicans would ignore Trump shooting someone on Fifth Avenue

Adam Schiff did a masterful job concluding the Democrats case against Trump.

While it appears he was making his case to Republicans, it is obvious that Republican loyalty is to their party.

Schiff was making his case to history. History will ultimately decide on the guilt of Trump and those who covered for him
Schiffs summary will go down in history as a definition of Trumps crimes

WHAT IF THEY GAVE AN IMPEACHMENT AND NO ONE CAME?

The Democrats are desperately trying to flog their impeachment show, but so far both the ratings and the reviews are bad. Ratings fall flat as the vast majority of Americans tune out impeachment trial. Only 3% of Americans tuned in across all the major networks and cable news combined. Ratings fall flat as most Americans tune out impeachment spectacle — Ted Davis (@tedsthetruth) January 23, 2020

You’ve all seen the headlines: Impeachment trial gets lower ratings than Jeopardy! on a bad night. Ratings Show Americans Don’t Care About the Impeachment Trial Enough to Watch It.

To be fair, I can’t imagine how anyone could stand to spend hours watching Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler. So it’s a tribute to the hardy few who tuned in.

Then there is this, from Twitter: the demise of Mr. Peanut was being tweeted about more than the impeachment trial:

Of course, it's a gotcha question and it is a very stupid one.

No they did not challenge it. To challenge it, they would have to have involved the Supreme Court. They can't just decide on their own, and this is just one reason why they will fail, and also why democrats will be a minority in congress in 2020.

They have no evidence that he has done anything wrong. Sorry. *shrugs* He is not going to be removed because your team did a shitty job, not that this surprises anyone. Democrat socialists suck at just about everything, including running their own cities. :D

Schiff and his team have given the most masterful performance since the 2017 Astros

It was clear, concise, and compelling...

ABC/WaPo: Our Beloved Trump Climbs To Highest Job Approval Rating Of His Presidency Amid Impeachment Trial

President Trump’s approval rating has climbed to match the highest of his presidency, boosted by majority approval of his economic stewardship according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Trump’s approval rating is significantly improved from late October.

The economy also happens to be the issue, of course, that perennially scores at the top of voters’ list of priorities when they go to vote in presidential elections.

It’s not just ABC/WaPo that finds Americans’ satisfaction with the economy peaking. New from Gallup:

Highest confidence since the end of the Clinton Administration. Our Beloved Trump has turned out to be much better than anything we saw in the previous sixteen years under Dumb and Dumber.

That +40 net on economic confidence is the biggest number since the final few months of the Clinton administration. Dubya never touched it. Obama never got there. Not coincidentally, with economic satisfaction skyrocketing, satisfaction with the state of the country is skyrocketing too:

That’s the biggest number since 2005.

Your poll only approves of his handling of the economy
Nothing else

Republicans won’t listen, but History will

So give us your recap, and tell us what is the high crime, treason, or misdemeanor that is being alleged? I'm genuinely curious. I've heard a bunch of "well, actually" etc but no real meat.
