Should 8-Year-Old Be Wearing Make-Up?

Makeup is SUPPOSED to enhance naturally...so you can't tell she is wearing makeup at all. That's the purpose anyway. ENHANCE slightly. Not cake it all on.

I dunno, the thing with theatre is it turns kids onto makeup, and then they like to experiment. My daughter has spent many, many happy hours playing with makeup, and from a young age. I probably wouldn't post head shots like that of her on FB just because but I really don't see a huge problem with a mom and daughter playing with makeup and posting the results.

Do you think a 8yo did that OP photo with big fake lashes? Complete with pouty lips? She was done up and coached.

I see, so the effort was to make her more noticeable on the stage she was going to. Like all women that apply makeup. Good grief.

Presumably they did it to see what she'd look like with makeup. She's at an age where she wants to do grownup stuff. Little boys like to pretend to shave and drive trucks. Little girls like to put on makeup and play with dolls. It's not the end of the earth. Most of the time.

I'm not saying that little girls aren't hypersexualized by Hollywood, and that people don't prey upon them and that there aren't idiot parents out there who grow their kids up waaaayyyy too young. But every instance of a little girl wearing a lot of makeup and taking pics is not a case of child porn.

I have the same eyelashes. Very long. And not fake either. But to SEE them in all their glory, I had to wear mascara. But..that's when I was more...well....vibrant and young and wild and ALIVE. Yes ALIVE I TELL YOU!
Now where was I? Oh. Yeah. When I was younger. Now? Hell, I haven't worn makeup in about 5 years. I might put a bit of poweder on and tinted lip gloss when I head to the market or the docs office but otherwise..meh.

I see no reason for an eight year old to go to this extent unless there's a reason such as a play or other types of performing arts.
I think guys have a problem with it because their instinct is to protect little girls.

No he just doesn't want little girls sexualized. It's a noble sentiment, but one can go overboard with it. My son did. He still thinks I should have made my daughter wear longer shorts (though hers were the exact same as everybody else's) and take fewer pictures than the ugly and fat girls the same age.
