Should somebody need an ID to vote?

That came out of your own imagination. I didn't say it.

Republicans like voter ID because they'll get more votes.

Democrats don't like voter ID because they'll get less votes.
Those tend to be the kinds of people that don't have basic identification. You're telling me that their ability to vote benefits the Democrats. Did I misunderstand something?

I also think Democrats would still fight against ID laws if you could do it all for free.

Voter ID standards should be the same as legally purchasing a firearm. Valid photo ID and background check. If that standard is good enough to exercise one right, it's good enough to exercise another. If you can't buy a gun you can't have a ballot.

Actually the statistics say that enacting their restrictive voter ID laws, means disenfranchising a number of republicans, but they would disenfranchise an even larger number of democrats.

Yes, obviously. Only legal citizens should vote.

Only dishonest, underhanded people with subversive agendas think otherwise.

Well, some people might not like this opinion, but I really don't mind if some people don't vote because they aren't able to provide basic identification.

What kind of grown U.S citizen can't provide some form of basic identification? Should I really care whether or not a person like that expresses their opinion through voting? Is that a productive person whose opinion should be seen as valuable? I don't think so. I actually wouldn't mind if extremely ignorant and unproductive people voted less.
Well in California you now need a vaccine passport to order a burger. But you don’t need an ID to vote multiple times.

So you're telling me more stupid, unproductive and incompetent people vote for Democrats? That's a pretty damning observation.
More irresponsible people are Democrats. That is a well-known fact.

Not anymore
Most people bank online or through an ATM
Many people have lived in the same apartment for decades and never provided ID. The same people have voted for decades and now are being rejected

All of which require an ID.

DUUUUUR.

Then you would be wrong. If the government actually helped people get the required ID, democrats would have less objection then the republicans.

IN fact it would be republicans objecting to some form of universal federal government ID that would keep it from happening.

What if the government simply gave an ID card to every voting-age citizen in the country?

Voter-ID requirements are the norm in many countries, as Republicans are fond of pointing out. But so are national ID cards. In places such as France and Germany, citizens pick up their identity card when they turn 16 and present it once they’re eligible to vote. Out of nearly 200 countries across the world, at least 170 have some form of national ID or are implementing one,

Why do I say republicans would oppose it more, just look at how they outlawed "vaccination passports" before they even came into existence.

If Republicans were so fired up about voter ID, they would make sure everyone has an acceptable ID
As it turns out, if they don’t like your ID…..Too bad for you

Yes...actually, we do......you just have to let local governments know you need an ID....

And they'll charge you a fee to search for the paperwork you need. A birth certificate copy can range from $15 to over $50 (expedited service).

Yes, but that doesn't make all left wing thinking wrong. It just means that the left wing will always benefit from getting unproductive people to the voting booth.

I think I'm probably the only person in this thread that wouldn't flip their position if Republicans benefited more from that instead. I suspect that the rest of you just want to win and that your position on this is fueled by that desire.

This would not be an issue with faithful execution of express Law for Legal purposes.

All foreign nationals in the US should be known to the general Government and federally identified for civil purposes. There is no Immigration clause in our federal Constitution. And our express Commerce clause implies market friendly policies public. We should have no illegal problem nor any illegal underclass.

And, only the right-wing prefers to eschew Capitalism for their socialism on a national or international basis when the tourism sector is the first, second, or third largest employer in twenty-nine States of our Union.
