Zone1 Should you have to pay taxes to be able to vote?

It’s not a bad idea to flirt with IMO

It’s easy to spend other people’s money, and it’s easy to vote to only get things from the state and not give anything.

It’s easy to vote recklessly if one has no skin in the game.

It’s like 2 parents and 3 kids in a family, and all get a vote. The kids vote for toys, food, vacations, etc while the parents vote for paying the mortgage and saving for retirement. Under this system the family will become homeless and broke.
It's not surprising anymore that American would be serious about this.

I’m not opposed to that idea being considered. There aren’t many trust find babies overall as far as mass numbers, but I’m all for restricting free loaders of all kinds.

So you’d be okay with the 3 kids outvoting the 2 parents until the family’s living situation was ruined?

I’d want the breadwinners, the parents, making household decisions.

So you loved the Mandate in Obamacare? Good for you.

If the kids are old enough to vote they'd be working and paying taxes too. :auiqs.jpg:

Parents of children do make the decisions. In what world does your make-believe scenario exist as a realistic thing?

what about people like me that retire early for health reasons and dont pay any income tax and dont collect any government benefits because I planned ahead??
It was retroactive... if you had owned a home or business and lost or sold them you would absolutely qualify for voting... same if you had a job and or served in the military... so even with those old rules most people were able to vote....

You do know that the "shared responsibility payment" in Obamacare (better known as the mandate), was about restricting free loaders, better known as "free riders?"

Now tell us all how principled you are -- that you supported the mandate.

Who in this country pays no taxes at all?

Would this exclude the non-working spouse who is at home rising children from voting?
