They're toast. His plea agreement requires to confess to everything he did, and to tell them everything he knows, in addition to testifying about everything.
He also can't plea the 5th on anything asked of him.

Since Trump couldn't be indicted, and as Trump appealed to the US Supreme Court, he couldn't even be investigated or subpoenaed as a sitting president. So the investigations didn't start until 2021. Add to that additional delays with Trump fighting every subpoena for information, appealing up the court layers, delaying the inevitable for 1-2 years.

In essence, when Trumps appeals ran out, so did his luck, and the indictments started rolling in.
