The Socialism boogeyman

The right wing in America has used the term Socialism as a scare tactic for decades, but it's not working anymore. The American economy has functioned with a mixture of Socialism and Capitalism for many years i.e the hundreds of billions in free money the American government pays out to corporate America as subsidies, grants and other corporate welfare goodies are a pure form of Socialism. One could also make the case that tax credits, automatic rollover defence contracts and Federal Deposit insurance are also forms of Socialism. Millennials now associate Socialism with Scandinavia, and not the old USSR.

America has cooled a little on capitalism. This is hardly surprising when you consider how the American form of Capitalism has failed ordinary Americans. The poorest men in the US have the same life expectancy as men in Sudan. Maternal mortality more than doubled between 1991 and 2014. The middle class has shrunk. People are desperate for an alternative to an increasingly dismal status quo.

Sorry Republicans - Your Socialism boogeyman is not scaring people anymore.

So what you are saying is that as America has become increasingly socialist, the American people have grown unhappy with the economy. I would agree!

I would also agree that capitalism is the one being blamed, as where the blame lies completely on socialism

And Scandinavia is not a socialist country. Socialism is government running industry, like you would have seen in the former USSR and Cuba and Venezuela and North Korea, not Europe. But once again, the capitalism of Scandinavia, or what is left of it, is why it is much more preferable to the actual socialist hell holes I just mentioned.

This is spot on.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM.

America has become hyper-consumerist. . . the typical American doesn't feel like they have enough stuff, they want more and MORE AND MORE STUFF.

Thus, they feel like they want the government to pick up costs they are tired of paying all the time, so they can buy toys, and vacations, and booze and drugs.

They want the government to pay the rent, the utilities, the tuition, the health care, to provide food, so folks can use disposable income on travel and toys.

Americans are looking at "socialism" because they want to live like the rich and famous. So they have enough money to buy that latest model of the iphone, of that newest car model or can afford a better house.

. . yet, if you have socialism, there are NO LUXURIES. There are no vacations, there are no cars, no toys, no fashion, not anything, no freedom at all.

You should buy a book called, "Hitler's Beneficiaries"

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=hitler's+beneficiaries&hvadid=78683855359635&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&tag=ff0d01-20

In it, you will see how Hitler centralized power and spent the wealth of the country on 2 things, which is the military and socialism. For you see, Hitler feared an uprising during the war like there was during WW 2 because of the poor living condition, so he made certain that the living condition of the populace was the highest in the world, which it was till the very end of the war.

Essentially Hitler bought the souls of a war weary populace steeped in genocide.

So in the US with the government spending trillions on both the military and socialistic type policies and with the genocide of abortion that has snuffed out around 50 million, who do they remind us of?

Yeah, I know all this.

I started my poli-sci career as a far left liberal. I started by analzing the beats, the hippies, etc.

Most folks don't realized that the counter culture was completely against PC. And against government privatization of the economy.

When I talk to my liberal friends, even the ones on the far left, they are in complete denial. I ask them, why would huge mega corporations be supporting ostensibly "Marxist" BLM?

FIGURE IT OUT!

The left is being fooled into being the very thing that they believe they are fighting against. :auiqs.jpg:

They used "socialist" for a long time, and finally realized that, not only did it no longer scare anybody, but it probably backfired and made many people more interesting in hearing about socialism. Too funny.

They stuck on Marxism for a time, and now they're pretty much stuck on "commie" and communism, like modern-day Archie Bunkers.

I've also seen them say that the devil himself is involved, and I very much wonder where they take it from here. I mean, where the hell (no pun intended) can they go from here?

Of course, all they're doing is scaring themselves and each other, as usual, while the rest of us smile and roll our eyes.

Consider the benefits to the planet brought by Marxism-based governments just in the 20th Century.

Start with over 100,000,000 dead only by two leaders. You can add the rest in later.

Keep smiling. You won't win here.
But I'm fully against Marxism. I'm a happy capitalist .

Keep trying. You won't win here.
What distinction do you draw between Marxism and socialism?

As for BLM, they claim to be Marxist but seem to support everything that is socialist.
I don't give a shit.

I'm against them both.
Well if you are not willing to explore what these terms mean, how can you intelligently talk about them?

Or do you want to be like this socialist who first begins to talk as if she knows what the hell she is talking about, but when confronted with knowing what she is talking about, realizes she is an idiot.

I would have to say that the ignorance of those promoting socialism should not be surprising, because only an ignorant person or fool would.

Talk to them about it. Maybe they'll thank you for all your help.

Once again no intellectual interest in the debate you entered. I find this pattern perplexing.

Very odd

I made my point. I have no interest in wallowing in yours.

Too bad.

But you won't define what you mean by Marxism and socialism, much like Bernie Sanders who refers to both Europe and Cuba as "socialist" even though there are major differences as I have pointed out.

So you have made no points at all, rather, you have an aversion to providing clarity on the subject, which is either intentional or you don't have the intellectual capacity to undertake.

Yeah, Mac is married to DNC idealogy, which has been married to Keynesian economics for the past century, which, is starting to come up short, and has no other choice but to turn to draconian austerity or privatization dirigism government/economic policies. This, of course, is diametrically opposed, as dirigisme is the opposite to laissez-faire.

The simple fact of the matter is, if the folks that support the DNC, and to a lesser extent, the GOP, ever found out that the US pursues the same type of policies that facist Italy and Germany do, it would be all over for our corrupt leaders. WE DON'T PRACTICE SOCIALISM, WE PRACTICE FASCISM.

Funny, since Trump is a HYPER Keynesian, spending like a drunken sailor in a period of growth, screaming at the Fed to keep rates low, and allowing the NY Fed to pour $1.5 TRILLION into short term credit markets to grease the system in 2019.

This is why I no longer get into economic "conversations" with Trumpsters. It's depressing.

You know I am no "Trumpster," so why do you have to throw out inane ad hom when you are looking like a fool? To my knowledge, I don't think Votto is either.

.. . . and I know you aren't a mindless partisan, so stop with that bullshit already.

Well ya know, when Biden supports the Green New Deal to spend around a $100 trillion to fight the naturally occurring gas carbon dioxide and wants nationalize health care which will end up being about as expensive as the Green New Deal and wants to raise taxes on a people burdened by a failing economy and starts talking about liking children rubbing his legs and sitting on his lap I all of a sudden become a Trump fanatic!

Perhaps.

. . . I don't trust the Biden folks.

Should he win, I would not put it past his administration and all those who work for him to penalize anyone who has the audacity to actually vote for Trump.

How short the memory is for those that do not remember how Obama weaponized the IRS.

Now they have this exaggerated "virus" and they WILL institute tracking and tracing. In Canada they already have secret detention facilities, and have done something similar in Ohio.

I'm paranoid, if Biden wins, not only might that happen, but with the "virus," the health services will be weaponized as well against those who vote for Trump.

. . it might be all or nothing this time around.

wow.

One of the producers and assistants for this;

Recently made a video in downtown L.A. Unfortunately, it is only viewable and streamed on FB. But it looked really eerily similar to those photos.

Your video of Joy Villa completely debunks the OP's psycho pro communist push.

Excellent post.

Thread killa .....

Most of the folks that are for Big Government usually are. . . because in school, and in life, they are lazy. They do not like to read, they do not like to think, and they have no critical thinking skills.

They only parrot what they were told and what they see.

They have no investigative skills what so ever.

Our alleged wars on crime, drugs, and terror have nothing to do with Capitalism. Those policies are nothing but socialism on a national and international basis.

The populace has been indoctrinated for years that capitalism is unjust and the Founding Fathers were slave owners, thus the country and Constitution needs to go and be replaced by socialism.

But the history of Marxism is never taught in terms of the death and destruction it has caused, murdering and oppressing millions more last century than any other ideology.

So with such vast ignorance, no wonder the term no longer scares them.
Not to mention the gross misapplication of capitalism by the ignorant Right, which has played completely into everything the Left is doing.

That's led to the inequities and fraud that has turned so many people away from capitalism.

The REAL socialists should be sending the Right Thank You cards.
Could you provide an example of the "gross misapplication of capitalism?

What turns people away from capitalism is the constant lying about it by turds like you who don't even know what it is.

Capitalism "died in 1929" and socialism has been bailing out capitalism ever since.

I will now only (try to) discuss this issue with Trumpsters if they have the formal training and/or formal education and/or sufficient financial designations to discuss it like an intelligent, informed adult.

If you'd like, you may provide yours for my consideration.

And sorry, "I heard it on Rush" does not qualify.

That's because people like yourself are historically retarded. Socialism and all of it's offshoots have killed well over a 100 million people.

We have no programs that even approach socialism so there's no threat of it
Government of the People, by the People, and for the People is socialism not capitalism.
Don't confuse government and economics.
Government is socialism. You cannot have socialism without it.

I'm sure the folks at my Credit Union and my Food Co-Operative would laugh at your utter ignorance. :auiqs.jpg:

Name one experiment in socialism or any form of collective bullshit that has worked out for the people over the long haul, just one. You can't because they've all collapsed and have been disastrous for the population suffered in misery and did without while their elite ruling class lived in the lap of luxury at their expense. Socalism is just like all of the other crap the left preaches, it's nothing but a big damned lie told to anyone stupid enough to be suckered in.
