Time for Boehner to man up

The dick head in the white house needs to act like a president, not some petulant little child.

The two people leading the leftards, ovomit and dingy harry, are both locked into their position. They have not negotiated or conceded ONE THING. THEY are the ones holding the country HOSTAGE.

It is ALL THEIR FAULT.

Sorry dems, your lies aren't holding water, not this time.

So, let me get this right.

The GOP has a tiny majority in the House, but not in the Senate and the Dems have the Whitehouse. The system of checks and balances seems to clearly in favor of the Dems, which is the way it works.

The GOP tried 40 something times to defund or repeal the ACA without success, meaning that the system is clearly working perfectly. They then decide to tie a staunch defunding of the ACA (no compromises) to a CR to fund the government because they can not get their way through the normal order of our government, even after they got a budget from the Senate and they were requested 18 times since April to conference on it to come to a resolution but refused to even show up. Seems a bit premeditated on the GOP side..

This is the system, your party tried to buck the normal order of our government to satisfy the unpopular ideological fetishes of about 50 house members. You lose on this, the republican party will walk away with nothing of worth from this shutdown, because they should not, this will legitimize this kind of petulant behavior and before you know it both parties will think this is acceptable behavior when you don't have a majority in the all branches.

The fact is, the tea partiers lied to there constituents. They ran telling the sheep that could repeal or defund the ACA knowing full well it could never happen with the congressional and executive office make up. They raised money on it and probably are still getting donations by mouthbreathers who still believe it might still happen. Now they will go back and tell their constituents that next time they will follow through and all they need is more donations. A big con job and Ted Cruz's sticky fingers are all over it.

On September 30, Republicans gave President Obama an ultimatum.....Defund Obamacare or we will shut down the Government
The President refused to give in to extortion

Now the TeaTards are giving Boehner an ultimatum.......Default on our debt or it will cost you your job
Boehner needs to show some character and do what is right for his country. He needs to tell the TeaTards that America is fed up with their antics and he will no longer be a part of it

REAL Republicans need to stand behind him

The way. I see it is Obabble is for the status quo...tax, spend, redistribute. Boehner is for change...budget, fix entitlements, lower taxes. The solution is to change at a slower, manageable pace...how hard is that. a pox on all of the assholes.

If this were true the House could've passed their own bill yesterday...they couldn't. They couldn't because the Tea Party Stupids are refusing to vote for anything that doesn't defund/delay ACA. They almost certainly will not vote for the Senate plan either...unless it defunds/delays ACA.

They are undeniably holding the country hostage and it needs to stop. We can't have bullies in the congress.

I found your all's new talking point from an ELECTED Democrat representative OF THE PEOPLE in this country, you've wore the rest out so I thought I'd help....can't you feel the love from them all folks?

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said Tuesday that the Tea Party has stuck a knife in the backs of working-class families by shutting down the government and threatening default.

“There was so much economic hurt that had already piled up … people just didn’t have any wiggle room, when the Tea Party decided to stick a knife into the backs of hard-working American families,” Murphy said on the Senate floor.

all of the love here

Boehner is in a no win political situation

He can't touch Obamacare and he can't ignore the Hastert Rule without losing his job

Does he really want to drag the country through all this and have nothing to show for it? Time for Boehner to act like a leader and pull us out of this nonsense

The Boehner's got a chance to be a real hero here....save the country, lose his job.

But why can't Democrats vote for him as Speaker? Why can't they cut a deal with him? "Vote for a clean CR and we'll vote for you for speaker" or something like that.

Does Boehner really want the job under those terms?

It is HIS historical legacy on the line. Does he want to go down on the history books as the worst Speaker of the House?
Does he want his record to show no accomplishments as Speaker other than shutting down our Government and defaulting on our debt?

Rational Congressmen of both parties need to stand behind doing the right thing

Amazing how John Boehner is suddenly the most powerful man in Washington...more powerful than the President or Harry Reid! Suddenly it's HIS legacy that is in play? Really?

Who the fuck is sitting in the Oval Office with both thumbs up his skinny butt while we're on the brink of collapse? The only "legacy" that is play right now is that of Barack Obama. He's about to go down in history as the ONLY American President to oversee two credit downgrades on his watch. The person that needs to "man up" is the man who's supposedly (eye roll) our leader!

House conservatives are about to get rolled.

Mr. Boehner has indicated he will bring to the floor whatever plan the Senate passes, even though it will have almost none of the policy goals conservatives have been demanding. Mr. Boehner is sure to need Democratic votes to approve the Senate measure, an awkward position for the chamber's Republican leader.

As outlined Tuesday by aides, the Senate agreement includes no major alterations to the 2010 health-care law.

This is how divided the country is. Boehner knows that if he capitulates he will be replaced by someone who won't. Democrats should realize that Boehner is the best they could get. He is willing to negotiate. The next representative may not be so nice about it.

What's happening in Washington merely reflects what's happening in the population. It is the result of a representative government.

Boehner has the power to allow a bipartisan House to pay our debts and bring the Government back to work
He gained that power in a last minute power grab that gives him the sole responsibility to bring bills to the floor. He did not have that power on September 30.

Republican histrionics have led to two credit downgrades and probably more when they are through. Saying it wouldn't have happened if Obama gave us what we wanted is not an excuse
ALL of this is on Boehners head

Will he do the right thing or destroy his own legacy to extend a failed Speakership?

The latest indications are that Boehner will allow the Senate compromise to be voted on by the House

Now, if only House Republicans will do the right thing

Fair play to boehner for doing the right thing. It been tough time for him but at least he trying to avoid america going into default. So well done to the speaker

Hopefully he can pull it off and we can go back to business again

"Histrionics"? The reason we got our credit rating downgraded for the first time in our nation's history (including the Great Depression!) is because the rating agencies didn't see us having the political will to tackle our debt problems. They saw us kicking that can down the road for someone else to deal with while we amassed huge additional debt and they saw that because that IS the philosophy of this Administration.

We do not have a leader in the Oval Office. We have someone with no solutions to our problems and no stomach for making the hard choices that go along with being a leader. Right now we're treading water until someone competent gets elected. The only question now is how much damage will the country take in the time that Obama has left in office?

Speakers of the House don't HAVE legacies...Presidents have legacies...and this one's legacy will be that he wasn't up to the task he promised us he was.

Boehner has turned into a puppet of the TeaTards

He has thrown the moderate wing of his party under the bus so that he can cower to 50 extremist TeaTards.

Coward
In trying so hard to protect his speakership, Boehner has kissed his political career goodbye.

For the love of God...are you serious? What "career" is Boehner protecting? A Speakership working with a President who has never seen a need for political compromise? A Speakership working with a Senate leader who refuses to even allow GOP sponsored bills to come to the Senate floor?

Obama and Reid want a rubber stamp for continued spending. You speak about moderates? What moderates are left in the Democratic Party? They all were ousted in 2010 after going against their constituents wishes over ObamaCare. There are no "moderate" Democrats left. The present day Democratic Party is as far left as it has EVER been and it's not moving towards the center any time soon. Why would any rational person even WANT the job as Speaker of the House?

The fact is that the TeaPs, less than 10% of the House, are not going to govern America.

End of the story.

The fact is...we have a President who is leading the Democratic Party...not the country and that won't work.
