Amazing how John Boehner is suddenly the most powerful man in Washington...more powerful than the President or Harry Reid! Suddenly it's HIS legacy that is in play? Really?
Who the fuck is sitting in the Oval Office with both thumbs up his skinny butt while we're on the brink of collapse? The only "legacy" that is play right now is that of Barack Obama. He's about to go down in history as the ONLY American President to oversee two credit downgrades on his watch. The person that needs to "man up" is the man who's supposedly (eye roll) our leader!
Boehner has the power to allow a bipartisan House to pay our debts and bring the Government back to work
He gained that power in a last minute power grab that gives him the sole responsibility to bring bills to the floor. He did not have that power on September 30.
Republican histrionics have led to two credit downgrades and probably more when they are through. Saying it wouldn't have happened if Obama gave us what we wanted is not an excuse

The reason we got our credit rating downgraded for the first time in our nation's history (including the Great Depression!) is because the rating agencies didn't see us having the political will to tackle our debt problems. They saw us kicking that can down the road for someone else to deal with while we amassed huge additional debt and they saw that because that IS the philosophy of this Administration.
We do not have a leader in the Oval Office. We have someone with no solutions to our problems and no stomach for making the hard choices that go along with being a leader. Right now we're treading water until someone competent gets elected. The only question now is how much damage will the country take in the time that Obama has left in office?
Speakers of the House don't HAVE legacies...Presidents have legacies...and this one's legacy will be that he wasn't up to the task he promised us he was.
The fact is...we have a President who is leading the Democratic Party...not the country and that won't work.

Our first credit downgrade was because they looked at us as unstable because our Congress was incapable of doing its job. If they were worried about debt we would have been downgraded six years ago
