Time for Boehner to man up

The OP is a lie.

What is it with you progressives these days? All you do is lie in your thread titles and your opening posts.

Blatantly. Not even spin. Just lie, lie, lie , and lie some more.

Republicans screwed the pooch on this one

and that is no lie

In your dreams.

The shutdown didn't hurt the Republicans in 1996 and it won't in 2014.

You seem to be relying on that phrase quite a bit. Quite a gamble if you ask me.

Tell ya one thing, the dems in Ga are praying Broun runs against Nunn

Broun running for Senator would be better then Richard Murdock or Christine O'donnell

A year is a long time, and voter memories are short.

However, many Republicans are crazy enough to attempt a repeat in 2015. Since they reside in an anti-reality bubble, they actually believe they came out winning this time, and that the country isn't correctly blaming the Republicans.

Oh I think it'll be better then that. They'll let the TeaTards argue it out in February 2014 too, and let that drag into another temp increase, then let the TeaTards argue it out again later in the year, leading to another temp increase...

Then finally the election comes along and people are so sick of TeaTards and their debt ceiling demands they'll do anything to get rid of them.

First, you are completely backwards. Obama is the one who gave the House the ultimatum to either fund Obamacare or he will shut down the government and blame it on Republicans. With glee he did just that.

Unfortunately for the President the American people didn't buy it.

Second, perhaps Obama should man up and stop holding the American people hostages for his own pride's sake. Perhaps if he showed some leadership for once in his life, Boehner might learn something from his example.

When the House and Senate passed ACA, the President signed it, SCOTUS opined it, the government had the obligation to fund ACA and defeat a minority attempt to defund it.

That is how government works.

It is looking like Boehner will send the Senate bill for a vote in the House

But I still see him as having nine more hours to screw things up

Voter memories are short huh? Funny how you liberals keep blaming everything on Bush, who is all of 5 years removed from office. Short memories? Pfffft.

Is there a statute of limitations on the damage done by Bush?

Boehner said that he's voting for this deal, and insiders reported that all house republicans gave him a standing ovation after his speech.

He said that defaulting is not an option and urged House R to vote for this deal. They "fought the good fight" and will continue to fight. He also said they are not giving up at defunding the ACA.

That is how government works.

Once a bill becomes law that does not make it sacrosanct. If a subsequent session of the House decides that it won't fund what that legislation has created...then they have the right do so. "Government" doesn't have an obligation to fund ObamaCare and anyone saying that it does...doesn't understand how our government works.

Barack Obama was 100% correct when he stated that "elections have consequences". They had consequences in 2008...they had consequences in 2010...and they had consequences in 2012. What has led to the problems we now face is that our President refused to admit that the people sent him a message in 2010 that they were not happy with what he and his merry band of progressives had done with health care reform. A more astute politician would have realized that he needed to make concessions to Republicans if he wanted the country's agenda to move forward...that concept went right over Barry's head. He listened to the advice of his inner circle who told him that he could "win" by playing hard ball with the GOP and in doing so he's mired the country in political gridlock. Bill Clinton wouldn't have done what Obama's done. He was politically seasoned. After his mid-term defeat he sat down with Newt Gingrich and hammered out deals. He moved to the center. He took care of the business of the country. Obama on the other hand did NONE of those things. He attempted repeatedly to go around Congress while at the same time blaming them for the country's ills. Then after blaming the party across the aisle he's going to go to them and say "Gee, let's work together...you can trust me!" Who would be naive enough to think THAT strategy was a good one?

Republicans lost.....when you lose, you don't get to make demands

What compromises have Republicans offered up?

Sucks don't it?

The Republicans gave the Democrats a "shellacking" in 2010, Winger...what compromises did the Obama White House or Harry Reid offer up following that? Almost half of the electorate have essentially been deprived of representation since this Administration took office because Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama haven't compromised on ANYTHING!

Go watch Rachel Maddow's show tonight on MSNBC. She's gloating that the Democrats didn't accede to ANY of the GOP's demands. Like the country somehow "wins" in that scenario! We still have total partisan gridlock with a President and a Senate Majority Leader who will not back down on their agenda in the slightest. Harry Reid and Barack Obama are the ones that caused this shut down. They are the ones that took us to the brink of the debt ceiling. Why? Because they feel confident that with the main stream media in their back pockets that they will "win" the political battle to portray the GOP as the bad guys in this situation and you know what, Winger? They are right in that assessment!

But at the end of the day...what has this political game that Obama and Reid forced us to play, gotten for the country? Are we any closer to solving our problems? Is the economy getting better? Are people getting off unemployment and food stamps? Is our deficit shrinking instead of growing rapidly? What has playing this game done for America?

Barack Obama is supposed to be the President of all Americans. He's supposed to do what's good for the country...NOT what's good for the Democratic Party. Clinton understood that concept. So did Reagan. Barack Obama is so fixated on "winning" against the GOP that he can't grasp that his actions are flushing this country down the toilet.
