What makes you think it is the US consumer who gets the oil? The Iraqi oil was liberated. No longer nationalized. Producing at least double what they did in the past. We still buy a few hundred thousand barrels a day, like we did in the 90's.
Are you trying to say we haven't had a policy of intervention since WWII to keep the oil in the hands of those friendly to the US and our allies?
Most of the Iraqi oil at the time was going to Japan....that's why they financed Desert Storm....These days it goes to China who beat us to the contracts thanks to Obozo not knowing his ass from his elbow.
