This trade war with China comes down to who can outlast the other. Keep in mind we’re subsidizing what we always have with a bit more. On their side the food prices are increasing and becoming more scarce. They can’t replace our volume of foods easily especially this time of year. So it’s going to be a wait and see game.

I think it's unnecessary and dangerous and will tank the economy. China's free trade infractions are not the same as those of any other countries. We have similar subsidies and market protections for our stuff as does NA and the EU, and even then Mexico is much different from Canada. Tariffs might work with Jina because we export not so much other than commodities, and if we aren't taking on the world, our commodity exporters wouldn't be hurt as much.

But tariffs with Canada and the EU will hurt US workers as well as farmers. And frankly I don't trust Trump's motives. He could get sweeter deals with less animosity, and I think he just wants the animosity for short term political gain, and he may well to just hurt nato. He may feel Europe is not much use to us or he may actually want to help Putin.
