Two reasons why democrats hate using the word Republic when identifying America's political system.

How do you use a government when you want it to have limited power? After all you said conservatives wanted to use government to their benefit. Conservatives want nothing from government but control of itself. Stop wasteful spending and to protect the constitution from tyrannical control.

As I said, if you define "conservative" that way, I agree. But I was referring to Trumpsters and the culture warriors. The "modern" Republican party.

No one has ever claimed Trump is a conservative but right now conservatism is not needed

Take a number and get in line with the rest of the TDS peeps.

Republicans act like Democracy and a Republic are mutually exclusive.
You can’t operate our Republic without Democracy.

But that is what Republicans want to do. Remove the voter from the operation of a Republic.
Why don't you do some research and see what the Founding Fathers thought of Democracies ? They did not think very much of them.

There were no pure Democracies back then…..still aren’t
Our founders set up a Republic form of Democracy
This argument is just as stupid as the debate over whether the US is "socialist" or not. Just arm-wrestling over definitions.

And how many more times for I need to correct you?
U.S. Government
While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic.
You don't seem to be able to deal with the United States being a democratic constitutional republic.

... [T]he meanings of “democracy” and “republic” have changed over past centuries, and neither now fully describes the United States or differentiates it from other “republics” like the People’s Republic of China. A term that arguably does that is “democratic constitutional republic.” This captures in modern terminology the key elements that the founders put in place.
The United States of American and the People's Republic of China are both republics, but one is democratic and the other authoritarian. Conflating the two is highly misleading, and the vital distinction is essential.
Why would any patriotic American try to cast the governments of China and of the U.S. as being indistinguishable?
