Was Trump Wiretapped? Just the facts.

Wow, your right, I thought there would some kind of a process but I guess it's at the discretion of POTUS. So next step would be for him to show the wire tap evidence and put this thing to bed. From listening to the WH surrogates this morning trying to spin his tweet into an "if" situation based on a news report, I'm guessing we aren't going to see any evidence. It's all bait to distract the puppets. Very transparent

actually......the news from the New York Times and other left wing news sources have all claimed that the information they have been using on the Trump/Russia story came from wire taps........this was before any allegations of obama wire tapping Trump....

DeepStateGate: Democrats' Russia Conspiracy Theory Backfires

Levin’s claims, reported at Breitbart News early Friday, were in turn based on information largely from mainstream outlets, including the New York Times and the Washington Post. Heat Street was one non-mainstream source, but the BBC also reported similar information in January. So, too, did the UK Guardian, which is a mainstream source (albeit with a decidedly left-wing slant, hardly favorable to Trump).

-----
In addition, there is reason to doubt the claim that the White House never “interfered”: the New York Times reported in January that “intelligence reports based on some of the wiretapped communications had been provided to the White House.”
Yeah taps on the Russian ambassador. Legal ones that were part of a publicized investigation

Nope.......you can't tap American citizens.......even if they are talking to foriegn dignitaries ...their names have to be protected and his name wasn't protected....Flynn, that is. And if you have read the article......using FISA in his way is illegal......but we will see....
Who disclosed Flynn name?

They have to find out....it was leaked to the Press...and as the experts say, the name of an American in one of these wiretaps would only be known to the highest levels of the intelligence community.....about a dozen people would know the name......and they would be high level officials....
So the leaker broke the law but the truth of the matter hasn't changed. Flynn talked to the Russians, lied about it, got caught, and was fired. You can just pretend like it's all fake. Nobody is buying it but the puppets

No spin. No smoke and mirrors. No conjecture. Was he wire tapped? If that can't be answered everything else is Conspiracy Theory material of attempting to create links between unrelated incidents.

At this point, it see - the whole wire-tap claim is unsubstantiated and taking on the guise of a conspiracy theory.

From: Analysis | Donald Trump was a conspiracy-theory candidate. Now he’s on the edge of being a conspiracy-theory president.

The problem here, of course, is that what Levin — and Breitbart — use as evidence for these claims are a series of seemingly unconnected events — from FISA court requests to Trump joking about the Russia email hack, to the release of Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s emails in the fall. The proof that all — or any — of these events are tied together by actual facts as opposed to supposition is not offered.

The idea that Obama’s administration authorized — and was able to get approval for — the wiretapping of the opposition party’s candidate for president is, frankly, far-fetched. And, if someone is making that claim — as Trump is now doing — the burden of proof is on them. If you are going to say there is a grand conspiracy that only you and a handful of others see, you need to offer a step-by-step explanation to the broader public to show why you’re right.

It seems unlikely — given Trump’s past pattern of making baseless claims without proof and then simply insisting he is right and no evidence is needed to prove the point — that any meaningful effort will be made by the Trump administration to connect the dots on this alleged wiretapping conspiracy.

From the LA Times: Citing no evidence, Trump accuses Obama of tapping his phones during the election

It would be highly unusual for a sitting president to be aware of such [surveillance] requests. By blaming Obama directly, Trump accused the former president of reaching into a federal investigation and signing off on an illegal wiretap, which is a felony.

If federal investigators did monitor Trump’s phones or computers lawfully, a court would have demanded information about potential criminal misconduct or unlawful foreign contacts. Such investigations are closely held and rarely, if ever, shared with the White House.

It is possible Trump has no evidence his phones were tapped and is repeating unfounded reports circulating in conservative media circles.

There is a lot of smoke, mirrors and redirection going on here, an attempt I'm sure, to distract from the demands for an investigation into Russian ties with the Trump campaign.

Rather than blowing this up into a full blown conspiracy theory, how about looking at actual evidence?

First question to answer is: is there any hard evidence that Trump Tower was indeed wire tapped? If we can't answer that, the rest is meaningless distraction.

From the Washington Post: Analysis | Trump’s ‘evidence’ for Obama wiretap claims relies on sketchy, anonymously sourced reports

Trump’s ‘evidence’ for Obama wiretap claims relies on sketchy, anonymously sourced reports

Brietbart article on FISA Requests: June & October. Breitbart based it's article entirely on one source: and article written by Louise Mensch, a former Tory member of the British Parliament and an independent journalist for Heat Street. But no one seems to be able to independently confirm the claim.

The Washington Post for months has sought to confirm this report of a FISA warrant related to the Trump campaign but has been unable to do so. Presumably other U.S. news organizations have tried to do so as well. So one has to take this claim with a huge dose of skepticism. Indeed, the New York Times reported before the election that the FBI “ultimately concluded that there could be an innocuous explanation, like a marketing email or spam, for the computer contacts” with the Russian banks.

According to the WP article:

The White House provided three other sources. Two, a National Review article and a Fox News interview, are simply derivative of the Heat Street article, with no independent confirmation. The third is a New York Times report that intelligence agencies “are examining intercepted communications and financial transactions” as part of a probe of possible links between Russian officials and Trump campaign aides. (We recall the president has previously deemed Times reporting on this matter as “fake news.”)

The article goes on to conclude:

Only two articles, both with British roots, have reported that a FISA court order was granted in October to examine possible activity between two Russian banks and a computer server in the Trump Tower. This claim has not been confirmed by a U.S. news organizations. Moreover, neither article says President Obama requested the order or that it resulted in the tapping of Trump’s phone lines.

And lastly:

Moreover, the articles do not support the White House’s claim that these were “potentially politically motivated investigations” led by President Obama. The articles all suggest the FISA requests — if they happened — were done by the intelligence agencies and the FBI.

So, before we have this huge political uproar, and immediate comparisons to Watergate, lets' get at the facts first. Can anyone answer these questions?

1. Was Trump wiretapped? If yes - what evidence? Were bugs found in Trump Tower?

2. Were FISA requests issued? If yes - can the claims be confirmed by more then one source and for what specifically were they for?

Until those are answered - there's nothing but smoke.

Funny how none of these concerns stopped you left wingers from accusing Trump from colluding with the Russians...though every single story on it had it buried deep in the story...that there was absolutely no evidence to support the allegation......

Funny how all of a sudden you want evidence before you believe this stuff...

So this keeps going on why? Because it did not happen or the administration keeps it going to deflect. A retired Republican that used to be on the intelligence committee just said, that if it wasn't true and if Trump would quite putting a quarter in the meter everyday it would go away on it's own. I'm leaning on either Trump, family or one of his adviser's colluding with the Russian's and therefore the intelligence community ordered a wiretap to see who it may be.
You are correct -- Trump pulled this wiretap thing out of his azz to deflect attention away from Sessions.

But Sessions is going down -- for lying to Congress.

Sessions will be the next to resign just like the last general.

Considering everything we've learned about obama's propensity to use taps against people he doesn't like, I have little doubt about him doing that against Trump.

The anti-Trump crowd including the MSM are like a pack of hysterical and out of control hyenas, some of them not only want Trump removed but also they now want Pence removed, this illustrates it's all about that Trump/Pence beat Hillary/Kaine, or else why are some saying Pence should be removed also?
They're living a life with tunnel vision. In their world, it's ok to break/bend certain laws if it benefits their beliefs.
What they don't understand is how that can come back and bite them in the ass.

It's why democrats are losing. People are starting to understand the problem with that way of thinking.

Why is the left so quick to dismiss FISA court requests as credible evidence?
James Clapper said there were NO FISA requests.
_____________

1) James Clapper is a proven perjurer, which also means he is a liar.

2) If a Liar like James Clapper thinks it expedient to not get caught in a cold lie any more....he might just "dissemble"...he might not tell the whole truth.

Just this morning, he said "Trump and his campaign" were not FISA-Tapped by a Secret Judge appointed by Barack Obama....but he did not say what individuals, besides Trump...might have been wiretapped...like his son-in-law.

Clapper is a Liar and a Dissembler.

The duty to prove that people like Jeff Sessions were conspiring with the Russians to undermine an American election...which is treason...is is pretty damn high....yet every Democratic Party leader has alleged or implied that very thing.

Where is the demand for proof of that out of you sanctimonious hypocrite Bolsheviks?

________

James Clapper says that, "in the national intelligence activity he oversaw, there was no such wiretap activity mounted against the president, the president-elect at the time, as a candidate or against his campaign.”

OK, so it wasn't overseen by him, but by someone else.

They can't credibly deny the wiretapping allegation, when they used wiretaps of Flynn to take him down.

It sounds like Clapper saying: "We didn't wiretap Trump Tower, except when we wiretapped General Flynn in his office at Trump Tower."

Divide by zero.
Jeeze !!!

THERE WAS NO FISA !!!

What is confusing to me is... a wiretap like this would be highly classified, wouldn't the president be privy to classified information? Wouldn't this leave two possible options.
1. Trump disclosed classified information in a tweet
Or
2. Trump made it up to distract from the sessions fiasco

If anybody has another theory please add it but these seem to be the only two options.

Seems to me IF there is evidence, Trump could declassify it and provide it....
If there is evidence and it's classified then would Trumps tweet be a crime?

The President is the only one that can declassify wiretaps at any time, so no crime.
Jeeze !!!

THERE WERE NO WIRETAPS !!!

Trump was wiretapped. I know, because I was the agent assigned to listen in. However, after 5 hours of listening to Trump brag about himself to everyone he knew, and then calling strangers to do the same, I could not stand it anymore, and went screaming out of the van parked in front of the Tower, and tried to kill myself by throwing myself in front of a yellow cab. Didn't work. Turned out that the NYPD had blocked off the street to protect him.

Okay, I'm going to say it: Somebody needs to take the White House away from him.

President Trump needs to be told to stop Tweeting about certain things.

The way to have done this, if they have evidence that The Obama Administration had Trump Tower wiretapped, they should have organised a press conference and at the press conference dropped the bomb in the form of the declassified information showing that The Obama Administration had Trump Tower wiretapped.

The way not to do this was for President Trump to just Tweet this without ordering the declassified information to be publicly released within the next few days.

I agree with your post in its entirety, as any reasonable person would. The problem is, Trump is not a reasonable man and he is not as "controllable" as the Republicans hoped when they greedily courted all the populist votes that enabled them to have a Republican in the White House to sign their legislation. They have a tiger by the tail and they deserve it, but I am so upset for what it is doing to this country.

Your entire thesis concludes you don't know what happened and the leftist media you quote doesn't either but hates Trump enough to believe anything negative. Common sense should tell you Trump knows what happened and knows the media weasels won't report it so he did. Sorry your side's version of events got knocked out of the headlines first by the Congressional Address and now this but that's the breaks. The Obama administration was a criminal cabal of activity between the DOJ, the IRS, and of course the White House. Messing with Trump like this is going to bring it all out and remember, it's now HIS CIA, DOJ, and Congressional majorities in charge of the information and law enforcement.....the left has left it's ass uncovered and now Trump is going to kick it.

I for one look forward to many, many hours of house Rep Elijah Cummings droning on about how wonderful President Barry is, and how this is all unnecessary, and his opinions on how Trump is really a Russian. Truly, there is nothing more calming than his long, mumbling off-topic rants and pointless questions.

I hope he's gonna tell us all what real problems are, such as we need more welfare in black communities and hoe whites are all racists.

I enjoyed today's discussion, but I have to prepare for the trip. If still relevant, I'll try to rejoin this thread tomorrow.

You really don't believe there was any collusion between the Russians and the Trump campaign? How do you explain all the circumstantial evidence so far? Why won't Trump release his tax returns? Why wasn't Trump's team also in similar contact with other countries? It's been factually established that Russians have also been trying to influence elections in other countries.

Agree...but the claims of a Trump Campaign collusion with Russia is equally bullshit. The facts will come out eventually. Look at Benghazi. We know Hillary and Obama lied about the internet video. We know dozens of requests were made for additional security and were ignored. We know there was gross incompetence by the Obama/Clinton State Dept that led to four Americans murder.

So yeah...the facts will come out about all of it. People just need to chill.

Allow me yotee, can I call you yotee?....allow me to add the comment by California Congressman Ted Lui, who Tweeted Grumpy Trumpy is on a wall and it doesn't matter where he falls, he is in a world of shit.

If he was wire-tapped, that meant a circuit court judge found probable cause of a crime; if he wasn't, then he's got a Nixon complex in making baseless accusations for personal gain.

“Mr. President: If there was a wiretap at Trump Tower, that means a fed judge found probable cause of crime which means you are in deep shit,” Lieu wrote. After providing a link to a Washington Post article on Trump’s tweets and the fallout, Lieu took it a step further.

“Either @realDonaldTrump is paranoid like Nixon, or judge found probable cause of crime for #wiretap. Either way our President is in trouble,” he wrote

At this point they are all playing politics, this includes the Democratic Party and how can a Committee be considered Bipartisan under that situation?

The other thing is the Republicans and the Democrats have their faces in the same trough and are basically funded by the same Corporate paymasters and there is deep corruption in both parties and both parties care little about the American people only when they want their votes, both parties politicians are beholden to their Corporate paymasters and that's who they deliver for, the American people get thrown the random crumb as an afterthought.

The only way Americans are going to return their Government to not being corrupt and rotten, is if they return it to how it was when Jefferson, Lincoln, Grant, Jackson etc were American President.

For this you have to remove the Corporate Lobbyists and the Corporate money completely from your entire election process, because they're purchasing politicians to serve them, the American people mean little in such situations.
That's a bit above my pay grade, Lucy. I'd love to see it happen, of course, but since that corporate $$ makes the D.C. crowd wealthy, they aren't going to vote to end the party (pun intended).

Can you imagine how pissed off at you New York/NewEngland Bolshevik Assholes that we Heartland Americans must have been...and how disgusted we had to be with that coat-tail riding, pathological liar, craven, drunken, avaricious bitch Hillary Clinton....to elect a man with such an obvious cornucopia of personality disorders?

Do you know how much we enjoy watching you whiney-assholes play out your little parodys; dream up your little conspiracy theories....and in general, cry like butt-hurt bitches about Trump....knowing you have 3 years 10 months and 2 weeks left to go.

My Advice: Buy Vaseline by the case!

obama started this.....and is continuing it.....the lies and attacks on Trump are nuts and need to stop....
That is a completely outrageous lie. Don't be as stupid as the Democrats screaming about Russians in collusion with the Trump campaign. You are drinking the koolaid.

No, I really don't believe there is anything going on between Trump, his staff, and the Russians. Trump ran, and his sons still run, an international business with ties in many foreign countries. I could be wrong. I definitely don't think Sessions did anything wrong and I don't consider what he said in his hearing as perjury. If there is more contact between Russia and these folks than with other countries, perhaps Russia is making it their business to stay in the front row and have their concerns addressed.
Trump isn't releasing his tax returns for his own reasons, but contacts with Russia? I doubt if that's the big problem. Like I said, I could be wrong, but I'm not believing it yet. I'd like some evidence that this is not a big episode of screaming "Cooties" everytime anyone speaks to a Russian. We have a global economy and we have relationships with foreign countries. If no one is allowed to have contact with Russians, make it a law, kick them out of the country and be done with it. Or leave it alone.

Than explain the wiretap on Flynn.

The wire tap was on the Russian ambassador and would have caught anyone he talked to in it's net. Nice spin.
