What made United States great ?

Many people (including me) will think entrepreneurs made the U.S a developed country and that was caused by capitalism. Also systems such as: free market, freedom of opinion, competition.. etc. provided us those technologies and science. In the history, those people from aristocratic background have been always made the useful things for the humanity.

Well, it depends what you think "great" is. If you mean a superpower, I'd say that it A) got rid of the shackles of old style monarchies and B) didn't go down the route of other such countries like Latin American countries who ended up with corrupt leaders.

So, basically it'd be the Constitution and the attitude of the Founding Fathers. They were looking to build something more and they made sure it happened and that the Constitution was honored in a certain spirit.

This allowed capitalism, it allowed the US to grow and strengthen and able to exploit the other countries close by (I mean Latin America mostly) because they often found themselves in turmoil.

Like all Super Power Nations the United States was created via War and the taking of lands in it's early life. It survives because it becomes efficient at it. We stopped the powers of that day in the Revolution as they had over reached with Colonization of the world and constant Wars against other powers to maintain that control.

The Gov't itself has sustained itself because of the Founding Fathers creating a system that would give more rights then other forms of Gov't that had failed in the past. Studying why they failed and made solutions to prevent that.

Even with that..........our Nation nearly destroyed itself in the Civil War.............

Today...........our Greed and allowing the mistakes of the past to be relived is threatening our status........Because we have allowed self serving leaders to gain control instead of the Enumerated powers of the Constitution. The Founding Fathers understood that a Government with too much power is too easily corrupted for self gain............Such as Athens and Rome................who's leaders made themselves career politicians for gold and power.............the corruption and holding of too many territories eventually bringing them down...........

No system of Gov't can sustain itself without Ethical people running it....................an area that is lost in the United States.

That's easy, quit passing bills before you read them... Books have beautiful covers, but if scared to read there contents then you are unlearned of that content, and therefore you make inaccurate statements regarding the content of any book or bill you are to scared, manipulated or ignorant to read.
