What makes America "Exceptional"?

As I mentioned earlier I had a conversation with a ranking Air Force officer that really convinced me how the biased MSM has influenced even intelligent people like this officer.
He is currently stationed overseas and has a very unique position.
In this position though he perceives America as NOT an exceptional place and also finds the current "anti-immigrant" stance very damaging in HIS perception of the world's opinion of the USA.
And sadly this ranking officer is in a position to testify to congress members about his station overseas.
His perceptions are then passed on to these members. Sad...

Both these positions are totally based on false, biased MSM presentations.
1) His perception ... "America is NOT exceptional".
2) His Perception... "Trump like me and over 80 million Americans like me are either "Legal immigrants" or have legal immigrant relatives... ARE ANTI-IMMIGRANTS!

Both these perceptions have a common thread... Immigrants.

The reason America is exceptional is BECAUSE we have had "exceptional" immigrants that found:

a) Their homeland was NOT going to give them the opportunities to be "exceptional", freedoms, economy.
b) AMERICA wants these exceptional LEGAL immigrants because they are "exceptional" and America offers
these "exceptional" LEGAL immigrants to give up their citizenship (which illegals don't) to become
Americans and that will obey our laws...including legally immigrating to America!

So the common thread is "legal immigrant".

America is exceptional contrary to this officer's perception.

Exceptional in that the USA is the number one country that people want to migrate to by nearly 4 to 1 margin.
Which countries do migrants want to move to?

America exceptionalism IS NOT based on "Illegal Immigrants" but "LEGAL immigrants" that are willing to
give up their homeland citizenship, take courses required to obtain citizenship and spend generally considerably
less money then the "coyotes" charge for illegals smuggling.

So is this officer at fault for holding these MSM biased positions? YES!
He is smart and should see this.

The disturbing aspect though is this officer has a position of influencing politicians!

But he like millions of Americans that hold the same views, he is too busy doing his job to read beyond the biased headlines and read the rest of the story.
Headlines like these when I do a Google search "Trump anti-immigrant"

Look at these examples of the google search...
NYTimes "Trump's Anti-immigrant racism..."
Newyorker: "Challenging Trump's Anti-Immigrant" fervor
