Where are the adults? If it looks like a bomb, assume it's a bomb.

The kid's family got him to pull a prank because THEY wanted to get a reaction and make a case out of it. The kid doesn't stand a chance of having a normal life with that kind of fucked up family.

My kid just got an "infraction" (basically a warning) for telling one of his friends "bite me" during a joking conversation at lunch. Apparently a teacher/monitor w/e overheard it and felt it was "threatening"

...I tried really hard not to laugh and roll my eyes. >.< We're gamers, saying "bite me" is tame lol

^^^ Gee whiz. Obviously what that teacher doesn't know is that there are phrases out there that are worse.

God bless you and your child always!!! :) :) :)

Holly

P.S. Now if that phrase had been said to the teacher, then I could have understood better why a warning was issued depending on why the phrase was said at all.

So a little kid brings a clock to school and it looks like a bomb. If it looks like a bomb, assume it's a bomb. So the police came to take a look. Good. That's what they are supposed to do.

So when they find out it's not a bomb, say sorry kid and walk away. Then the teacher should tell the kid not to bring something to school if it looks like a bomb. If you want a clock, wear a watch. And it's the teacher's responsibility to tell the parents there is a strict policy of not bringing bombs or anything that looks like a bomb to school and if he does it again, he will be suspended.

And it's the principal's responsibility the entire school is told, if it looks like a bomb, tell a teacher, don't go near it.

Besides, the science teacher should tell students to build drones or something that doesn't look like a bomb.

Then go home and come back for class. Don't be late.

But don't just do that for just Muslim Students. Remember right wing conservative Timothy McVeigh. He didn't look Muslim and he wasn't Muslim.

If it looks like a bomb, assume it's a bomb. Act appropriately. Treat everyone the same. Treat everything that looks like a bomb like you would treat a bomb.

Common sense. Done. End of story. Act like adults.
Treat everyone the same
you mean like the way dean does?...is that our example?....

Enough about this already. A kid was screwed over, people came to his defense, and everyone lived happily ever after. No need to talk about it anymore.

Do not worry. Your liberal media will see to that. They have covered up for this lying, malevolent president and administration a hundred times before. When president zero has egg on his face, ABC, PBS, et al. will be the first to wipe it clean and pretend it never happened.

That is EXACTLY right.

If you think it is a bomb, you act accordingly. You evacuate the building. You call the bomb squad. You arrest the bomber.

What you do not do is take the bomb into the school office. What you do not do is leave students in their classes next to wher ethe bomb is located. What you do not do is treat the 14 year old like a bomber if you do not treat what he made like a bomb.

Oh, and one more thing you do. If a suspect you have in custody is a minor, you do not question him without a parent or guardian present. And when you have a suspect in custody, and they request a lawyer, you stop the interrogation until a lawyer is present. That is a basic constitutional right.

Ok, so that explains what you do with a real bomb. Now, what do you do when you discover what looks to be a possible hoax bomb?

Actually the cops can question a minor unless they ask for an attorney. I some states they dont even need the parents permission. I have trained my kids to ask for an attorney instead if ever questioned at school by cops or school officials.

I stand corrected on that. But when the kid (or anyone else) asks for an attorney, the interrogation stops until an attorney is present.

If he made any attempt to portray it as a real bomb, you prosecute him. If he doesn't, you treat it as a school disciplinary issue.
Do you consider the possibility that he just hadn't portrayed it as a bomb... yet, or do you just assume that isn't possible?

The point is, he hadn't portrayed it as a bomb. If you want him prosecuted for something he hadn't done yet, but MIGHT have been about to do, you are an idiot.

He did not portray it as a bomb. The school and the police did not treat it as a bomb. Those are the facts.
Indeed, but without investigating it, they never would have come to that conclusion. So you do believe the investigation was warranted, right?
It doesnt take but 2 seconds to see it wasnt a bomb. If you have a hard time figuring that out then you are more of an idiot than I originally took you for.

That is EXACTLY right.

Actually the cops can question a minor unless they ask for an attorney. I some states they dont even need the parents permission. I have trained my kids to ask for an attorney instead if ever questioned at school by cops or school officials.

Now a days that is the smart thing to do. They interrogate a kid and just imagine what and how the kid would respond. I read somewhere that they want him to confess and sign.

Figures that because your development was arrested you dont know what to do.
If youre going to respond with insults, could you at least be more creative?

I don't have a problem with an investigation. I have a problem with the way the school reacted and, more importantly, the way the cops reacted.
They reacted by investigating it. What's the problem?
