Great harm was done to that ethnic group, by generations and people long dead, and most of the value of slave-work did not long survive the Civil War era.

But great help was also extended to that ethnic group - the blood of scores of thousands who died, in part, to end slavery in this country, and by the civil rights laws and efforts of both the immediate post-Civil War era and the post-WWII era - encompassing every civil rights advance from the 1940s until this very day.

A great deal of help never extended before or since to any other ethnic group.

The country at-large probably did, indeed, owe Black Folk some sort of special help, in trying to level the playing field a bit.

But the playing field cannot be held at artificial levels forever, and the country at-large cannot wait forever for them to finish catching up.

Moving forward, they're probably just going to have to deal with the remaining disparities - far more modest than those extant 50 or 60 years ago - and fend more for themselves.

As I said, Donor Exhaustion seems to be setting-in.

It was a good run, but it had to end sometime, and, I sense, we will see the Beginning of the End sometime shortly after January 20, 2017.

We will know soon enough whether that speculation is accurate or not.
