Well why not? It's JUST another vice, whats good about it? , Yes, pot has as many, if not more carcinogens as tobacco, and then perhaps we shouldn't minimize it's effects. Nah Because it profits somebody and its cool.

Society is trying to wean people off cigarette smoking. Why in the world do we need another freaking bad habit?

Society is not the end all be all.

Any society that does not respect and defend individual rights should be disavowed.

This is the core of liberty, and most people today just don't get it. Far too many people have accepted the opposite view that government is there to "run" society - to tell people the proper way to live and force them to comply. That view is the foundation of Democratic Socialism and it's the driving force of authoritarian conservatism. The left and right might have different agendas when it comes to the particulars, but they agree that government should be calling the shots.

Decriminalizing marijuana is not that big of a deal. It still should not be celebrated as a good life choice though. It is not a good life choice though for most people.

Just tune in to some police reality shows and see for yourself the "drug culture" and the problems they cause in society.

The only thing that most outsiders know about Portugal’s laws is that all drugs for personal use are decriminalized. But what most fail to understand is that all drugs, other than alcohol and tobacco, remain illegal.

If police find you with illicit drugs, you’ll be arrested and taken to a police station where the drugs will be weighed. If the amount is above the strictly enforced threshold limits — designed to be a 10-day supply for personal use, or 25 grams of cannabis, five grams of cannabis resin, two grams of cocaine, or one gram each of ecstasy or heroin — you can be charged as a trafficker. I live in a state where marijuana is legal. I don't see any problem with adult use. My problem is with the use by children. It is illegal to sell to children but that does stop kids from getting it. Use by 12 and 13 year olds is common in most Middle Schools. It is often mixed with tobacco and vaping products. It was a problem before legalization and now it is a bigger problem due to the fact that it is so readily available to kids. They get from parents, neighbors, older siblings, and other kids that are dealing.

I don't think it is irrelevant at all. I am for decriminalizing but not legalizing. Alcohol is legal and when I was a teen, I had no problems getting alcohol whenever I wanted it. Drugs and alcohol have a high potential of creating more "losers" because people are weak and dumb.
