It is the last frontier in civil rights and the haters do not want to let it go. For years they have been the last group that they could get away with openly discriminating against. Guess the haters will have to find someone else to treat like dirt now.

The church is a huge factor - it was also suppressed in the beginning of 20th, and it's now swinging back into power as it gets more money from people.
Prejudices are also important factor here. The main question: is it really bad to be homophobic???
