Why is America so screwed up?

I would answer the rest of that but the howls political correctness (which is usually shorthand for I'm not allowed to blame other races for Americas problems) and the socialist proramming of kids is laughable given that theyve been indoctrinated with mindless patriotism by making them swear allegence to the flag every day.
I don't get your picture gram. You think military spending accounts for our debt but social spending doesn't? Yeah, kids are just too damn patriotic these days. LOL

Military spending and prison spending. When you house 4 percent of the world's human but 22 percent of the world's prisoners then you have to take a look and say that maybe if there werent so many damn people being locked up on the tax payers dime then a bit more money could be used to provide tax breaks for the poor, tax breaks for businesses so they can create more jobs and maybe even provide the odd hand out programme for the very needy.
The poor pay no federal tax. Is that still too high? Criminals shouldn't be put away? I'm all for killing people that deserve it instead of feeding them for life. But let's not overlook the fact that creating dependence and an entitlement mentality has many people going the life of crime. You want to cure the problems liberalism causes with even more liberalism. That's the height of insanity.

Half of all American school children are living in poverty.

50 million are on food stamps.

Half of us do not vote.

More than 60 percent of Americans are overweight or obese.

We are trillions of dollars in debt.

We are more divided than ever.

Politics has turned into one big reality show.

The Washington elites don't give a damn.

When will this madness end? Is America the 21st Century equivalent of Rome? How did we get to this point?

The far left gained political power in the US, once you get the far left out of power, then we as a nation can start to grow again..

14 million private sector jobs under obama isn't growth? Your austerity crap doesn't make anything grow and that is a fact.

Getting a new job flipping burgers at McDonald's is growth to people on minimum wage I guess.

The poor pay no federal tax. Is that still too high?.
Oh contraire, the poor pay plenty of federal tax, it's just that it's all hidden. Beyond excise, sales and payroll taxes, there's all the federal taxes that are rolled up in the cost of goods and the big elephant in the room that hits the poor the hardest of all; distribution effects of inflation eroding the buying power of the poor that fastest (since they're the last ones to get there paws on newly printed dollars). Top that off with a dumb ass system whereby the poor only receive around 17 cents of every federal subsidy dollar leads one to the conclusion that the modern welfare state isn't designed to help the poor at all, it's designed to give them just enough subsistence so they can continue to be sheared by the tax farmers without them burning the joint to the ground.

The 1% has use right where they want us....

I say you have yourself right where you wanted. You voted twice for hope and change. You intend to vote for the same ideology again in 2016. If you were not happy with hope and change, you would not continue to vote for it.

Uh-huh, I hide it behind my strict adherence to Austrian Economics and my belief in minarchism; every once in a while I do take it out for a drive on Sundays but only when no one is looking.

The poor pay payroll taxes? Excise and sales taxes are local taxes, state, city, county, etc. I do agree thought that monies flowing from worker's paycheck is mostly to support government.

The poor pay payroll taxes?
Ummm.. yeah the working poor pay payroll taxes.

Excise and sales taxes are local taxes, state, city, county, etc.
Not true, the federal government imposes excise and sales taxes as well (although the feds like to call sales taxes "user fees");
For example : the federal government imposes an excise tax on every gallon of gasoline (currently around $0.18), they impose fees on airline tickets, hotel rooms (and a plethora of other services) at the point of sale.

I do agree thought that monies flowing from worker's paycheck is mostly to support government.
Not only to support government but to subsidize those that are NOT poor, the big lie that the left tells itself is that the welfare state is a boon to the poor when in fact the lions share of the subsidies and entitlements it hands out go to the middle and upper income brackets, in other words under the current system government is the single biggest creator of income inequality and these douche bags want to make it bigger and more powerful, while at the same time bitching about income inequality; Talk about cognitive dissonance.

The only way to do that is to make our prisons prisons again. Of course that will never happen with liberal judges. The movie Cool Hand Luke is a film that many in the future will watch in disbelief.

Well, we are hiring. We are hiring 250 more F.B.I. agents to do background checks on gun buyers. The federal government is growing every day.

And that's on top of the new IRS agents needed to oversee Commie Care.

Yes and give up the drug war. Its so lost. Quit locking up pot users. Such a jioke.

An adult making $12 an hour.... You cannot call that a job.

If you are working, bringing home a paycheck, yes, that is a job. If you can't make it on that pay, you find something that pays better.

I respect anybody that works for a living I don't care if they clean toilets for a living or landing jetliners. I don't have respect for those that live off of taxpayers because they don't feel like working.

Who's locking up pot users? Very few of them in any of our prisons. Pot sellers? Different subject. But if you really want to stay out of jail, don't use any drugs.

Many problems but name one country better
all socialist countries are better, just ask the traitor Sanders, he will be quick to point them out to you.

$12 an hour? The one nice thing on those things you can not show up and there are no repercussions. Business expects people to leave quickly.
