Why is wanting to keep what you earned greed, but wanting what you didn't earn isn't?

Reagan gave more tax breaks to corporations than Roosevelt.

Do the math.

Don't care.. I do not support corporate welfare no matter if Reagan gave 'tax breaks' or not... I do not live and die by Reagan, nor do I think he was 100% right

And BTW, a tax break is not an entitlement or welfare... a bailout or a subsidy is welfare.. and it is much different than lowering the tax rate

Tax breaks on corporations are the exact same thing as welfare. And the exact same thing as an entitlement.

Corporations make far more use of infrastructure, the justice system and a plethora of other goodies that a funded by citizens then the citizens who fund them.

In other words..they are getting a free ride where none is deserved.

The only way one can see a tax break as an entitlement is if one sees the government as actually owning your production and your livelyhood, and then generously "giving you more back" when they lower your taxes.

So basically, a communist.

I don't get it liberals, please explain

Not wanting to contribute to the society that you benefit from is greed

Contributing to society is one thing and something I agree with. But, contributing to society is not to be used as a blank check to spend everyone's money so as to eliminate the middle class and limit prosperity for a select elite while the masses are appeased with the perception that everything is fair.

And here's the clincher..Davey.

This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.
Section 10.

No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit bills of credit; make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts; pass any bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts, or grant any title of nobility.

No state shall, without the consent of the Congress, lay any imposts or duties on imports or exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection laws: and the net produce of all duties and imposts, laid by any state on imports or exports, shall be for the use of the treasury of the United States; and all such laws shall be subject to the revision and control of the Congress.

No state shall, without the consent of Congress, lay any duty of tonnage, keep troops, or ships of war in time of peace, enter into any agreement or compact with another state, or with a foreign power, or engage in war, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent danger as will not admit of delay.

That's nice you think that and all but your opinion carries no legal weight whatsoever. In our system, when a citizen disputes the meaning of the Constitution with the government, the courts settle the issue, not DiamondDave. Are you aware this is how it works?

I left out no enumerated power.. I started right from the top...

As stated.. the judiciary unconstitutionally grabbed the power.. the power comes from the states thru the vehicle of the constitution... it is not unlimited power and specific negations.. it is limited powers with an all encompassing negation... like a deny rule after specific allow rules in a firewall... The constitution is supposed to be our firewall... our power hungry government and government officials have punched holes in it relentlessly to weaken it

To raise and support Armies

Support ... to finance.. supply what is needed... otherwise known as to fund to arm the military.. the nuke is an arm used for offense or defense by the military.. just like a bullet.. just like a ball bearing used in a claymore mine.. just like a grenade.. just like a rifle scope... etc

You are grasping at straws

Corporate tax breaks above ACTUAL HARD COSTS of doing business are as a matter of fact a malignant form of welfare. Goodwill, buying carryforwards, etc.? All bogus.

Want evidence: which group is holding more welfare in savings: corporations -- estimated cash being held out of the economy, +/- $1.5kkkk; estimated cash being held out of the economy by the total of all pure welfare recipients in the United States: zero

"Provide for the general welfare of the United States" is SPECIFIC? LOL.

OP- NOBODY wants to be on welfare- EVERYBODY would like a good job, hater dupes.

Next year EVERY job includes health care, but $11 should be the min wage (=1968's min wage, before greedy idiot Pubs started ANEW their war on the nonrich...). TY Dems.

Tax breaks are legal deductions from taxable income, and are no more welfare than the paycheck you get from your employer.

Greed and envy are two different vices. I for one can't understand why people are unwilling to accept that some people work harder and are rewarded accordingly, and others feel they are entitled to the fruits of ones labor and sweat. Envy should spur one to work harder and apply ones self, but in today's world it translates into gaining the most with the least amount of effort.

Hmmm, The ditch diggers, construction workers and oil field roughnecks might appreciate that praise but labor does not command anything close to the salaries and bonuses the do nothing executives get while lounging in their air-conditioned ivory towers or chasing their secretaries around the office. And if the laborer is lucky, he will retire in fair health and receive a paltry pension
that, thanks to OBAMA CARE, might even allow him to maintain his accustomed lifestyle after that catastrophic illness.

How true.....those 40% of Americans who share only 2 tenths of a percent of our wealth are being greedy

u.s.-distribution-of-wealth-2007.jpeg

The answer is right here. To LOlberals, everything you earn belongs to everyone. You didn't build that. it's not yours, it belongs to the government we (not all of us mind you, only those int eh mob who voted. Not even a majority of citizens) elected. LOLberals do not believe in self ownership or private property, they believe in communal ownership as dictated by the government.

What wrongringer would really like to say is, "it's greedy because all the wealth belongs to the government WE elected and therefore, if you dont want to contribute to "our" society, you're a greedy bastard deserving of a gun pointed in your face and have it taken from you if you fail to comply."

The question at hand is who is being "greedy"

The person who shares 2 tenths of a percent of our nations wealth with 40% of Americans and is unable to contribute much to taxzes

or

The person in the one percent who controls 34.6% of our wealth and bitches about contributing to our society

You decide

Shares? You really do believe wealth is finite don't you? That there is only so much to go around and the wealthy have taken it from the poor and only out of the kindness of their cold dead hearts allow the poor to have two tenths percent? The wealthy are theives. I'm afraid you may not be intelligent enough to educate.

The court has no constitutionally provided power to do such a thing.. AS SHOWN BY THE POWERS GRANTED IN THE CONSTITUTION

The court has no power to determine the Constitutionality of a law? lol! What civics class did you take that teaches this?

To have the power, the fed would have to have it specifically enumerated.. It is not (and please, no leaving off the text after the word "welfare" from article 1 section 8)... the 10th amendment then reserves all other powers that are not specifically granted to the fed to the states and/or the people..
It is specifically enumerated in Article I Section 8 Clause 1.

You state the power is granted.. Just show the text that says so... it is NOT granted.. it is a power that the court took upon itself.. Against the powers granted

It is not specifically enumerated.. perhaps you should fucking realize that there are fucking things written after the fucking word WELFARE in article 1 section 8....

c'mon.. show us WHERE it is granted...

Article III - The Judicial Branch

Section 1 - Judicial powers

The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. (This section in parentheses is modified by the 11th Amendment.)

In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. Amendment 7 - Trial by Jury in Civil Cases. Ratified 12/15/1791.

In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

Amendment 11 - Judicial Limits. Ratified 2/7/1795. Note History

The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.

If there is nothing in the Constitution giving anyone the power determine constitutionality of laws,

then constitutionality is rendered meaningless. In your world, a state could outlaw all gun ownership without fear of running afoul of the Constitution,

because in your world there is no authority to determine and thus void laws on the grounds of their being unconstitutional.

LOLberals do not believe in self ownership or private property, they believe in communal ownership as dictated by the government.
That is not what I believe.
Do any of you other liberals believe this?

If you'll read their numerous daily posts, you'll know they do.

You're a brainwashed functional moron, hater dupe. A GOP plan for health reform (as if they would ever actually vote out the scam we have now) is not communism, nor is ANY regulation...let alone a bit of fairness for customers, the non rich, and workers...

Well OK then. The federal government isn'tdoing that. The federal government doesn't tax wealth - it taxes income. And no one is suggesting a federal property tax or any other such thing that would directly tax wealth. So what are you whining about exactly?
At least one I know of is suggesting the direct taxation of accumulated wealth. Me. I advocate IRS confiscation of all assets valued in excess of twenty million dollars.

But I know the majority of Americans will be outraged by that recommendation because they have been gradually but effectively indoctrinated into the cult of greed which has become the virtual religion of this once proud Nation. They won't give the concept a moment's thought but will react to it with programmed indignation.
