Why Would a God Care If I Believe In Him/Her?

They use the Bible and have not re written it.
They have added their own versions in addition but not the bible itself.
That' a big difference.

But wait, don't Mormons believe that Jesus lives on planet Kolob? Where does it say that, or anything that resembles that, in the King James version?

.

No they do not believe that Jesus lives on the planet Koiob.
They believe that Kolob is the heavenly body nearest to the throne of God. While the Book of Abraham refers to Kolob as a "star".

I must be wearing orthopedic shoes, because I stand corrected. Thank you for the explanation.

This God I hear about is supposed to be all knowing, and in that case I would assume he/she is mature, so why would he/she care if I believe or not?
.

.

A real god would not.

Organized religion says their god demands you believe in him because they know they can't prove he exists. So built into the story is how to deal with skeptics.

Notice only people who belong to organized religions claim you have to believe in order to go to heaven? And supposedly he talked to us thousands of years ago and performed miracles. All clearly made up fairy tales.

What I wonder is do the people who believe in god but not organized religion believe in hell too? And does their god require proof? Boss. Do we have to believe in your god or we don't go to heaven? Or do we go to hell if we don't believe? If you say yes then you are just picking the parts of christianity you like and disguarding the parts you don't.

I think you better check back with him if that was what he really said.....you may be in for a surprise.....

Pope Francis has good news for atheists. Jesus died and was raised for them as well. His redemptive embrace was for all, not just a chosen few.

sorry if you misunderstood....he said atheists can still do good works, but....

you still have to accept what atheists refuse to accept.....

I didn't see any "but."

Pope Francis assures atheists: You don’t have to believe in God to go to heaven

Responding to a list of questions published in the paper by Mr Scalfari, who is not a Roman Catholic, Francis wrote: “You ask me if the God of the Christians forgives those who don’t believe and who don’t seek the faith. I start by saying – and this is the fundamental thing – that God’s mercy has no limits if you go to him with a sincere and contrite heart. The issue for those who do not believe in God is to obey their conscience.

“Sin, even for those who have no faith, exists when people disobey their conscience.”

Robert Mickens, the Vatican correspondent for the Catholic journal The Tablet, said the pontiff’s comments were further evidence of his attempts to shake off the Catholic Church’s fusty image, reinforced by his extremely conservative predecessor Benedict XVI. “Francis is a still a conservative,” said Mr Mickens. “But what this is all about is him seeking to have a more meaningful dialogue with the world.”

In a welcoming response to the letter, Mr Scalfari said the Pope’s comments were “further evidence of his ability and desire to overcome barriers in dialogue with all”.

In July, Francis signalled a more progressive attitude on sexuality, asking: “If someone is gay and is looking for the Lord, who am I to judge him?”

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring. For this is what the promise said: “About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.” And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls— she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God's part? By no means! For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.

You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory— even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?

Why would you care of your child believes in you?

Why do bible thumpers always have to talk in well-rehearsed, non-thinking little maxims that actually make no sense whatsoever?

I have no doubt that if I were face to face with the bible thumpers here, they would all be typing/talking in iambic pentameter.

Why would you care of your child believes in you?

To be a good parent means not being the child's friend but their superior. They don't need to like you to respect you. Obedience is all that is required.

If your kid isn't cowering in terror when you walk through the door at night, you're a bad parent.

NO. What a terrible way to live - afraid of what's waiting for them when they get home. That sounds like my childhood and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Back to the OP, if god is a God then, no, of course he/she wouldn't care if we believe he/she exists.

Wouldn't that apply to believers, of all faiths, as well? What if Christians are wrong about the god they believe in? Is that worse than not believing at all?

I make my choices and live with the consequences.....why can't you do the same?......

That is how I live my life as well. Why are you assuming otherwise?

Also, you dodged the question.

no, I think its pretty obvious I didn't....I said I was willing to live with the consequences if I've made the wrong choice....

But would you take a gasoline can and douse your children, then light a match?

.

I would be very sad if my children decided to do that to themselves.....especially after I told them that if they doused themselves with gasoline and lit a match they would likely suffer a great deal......

You've answered the question in a very dishonest way. Your children are not dousing themselves...it would be you.

And you know damn good and well, that an all loving God would never do that, and neither would a loving parent.

.
It is NOT a dishonest answer.....if God's children end up doused with gasoline in hell its because they have chosen to end up doused with gasoline in hell.....I mean seriously how difficult is it to understand that.....

because atheists always make the same well-rehearsed, non-thinking little maxims that actually make no sense whatsoever, and they can easily be refuted.......

well, to be fair he/she give you the option of not believing he/she exists.....its just that he/she doesn't want to spend eternity with you hanging around if you don't......

Okay, who created this hell-fire pit? If you are correct, then obviously God thinks people who simply don't believe, deserve eternal damnation.

If one of your children comes to you one day and says, "mom, I just don't believe this outrageous story. I'm an atheist." Do you feel your child deserves to burn in hell for eternity?

Yawn, I'm sorry, I fell asleep after reading two sentences. That's what I do when I feel I'm being preached at instead of just a plain old conversation.
