74 school shootings in 77 weeks...Worth it's own thread.

If my neighbors don't think I should have a gun, then they need to start campaigning to modify or repeal the 2nd amendment. Until they succeed at that, I can have a gun whether they like it or not. (And so can they, which I don't mind a bit.)

BTW, they'll have no luck with the 2nd, because most American people think it's OK for me to have a gun, and they don't want it modified or repealed.

If my neighbors don't think I should have a gun, it takes more than a 51% vote to make it that way. Something the gun-haters find intensely frustrating.

Gee, that's too bad.

Actually, a whole lot of ways to make the lives of gun nuts miserable without repealling the second amendment.
I have run across a few people I would consider gun nuts. Many of them hold a pistol like this:

Please! By all means, make them miserable, but the average, law abiding gun owner... I'd suggest thinking twice before fucking with them.

[

I know that very well. So many UNCONSTITUTIONAL RULES and regulations which tantamount to repeal

1- overzealous prosecutors;

2- unconstitutional regulations

3- the incineration of a religious group because they were "stockpiling firearms" - of course, so the penalty does not appear too harsh the powers-that-be will add "the raping of a 10 year old" to the charge

And so it fucking goes.

OH, I agree. But sometimes you need to think smaller.

Like Taxes on bullets and owners of firing ranges for the environmental damage all that lead causes.

A tax on gun sales to cover the costs of 32,000 gun deaths and 79,000 gun injuries.

Lifting the liability statue on gun sellers and makers when their products are used to mow down a room full of pre-schoolers.

Guns aren't the problem, people are the problem.

I've had my firearms for more than 45 years and not once has my ammunition been shot at another human being. That would also be the same for more than 99.99% of the gun owners in the US. So you can take your authoritarian rhetoric to a place like Cuba.

Joe your stupidity has no bounds...

74 school shootings in the past 77 weeks.

Not 74 chemical bombings, not 74 stabbings, not 74 bows and arrows, not 74 hatchet attacks. The common denominator (do I need to define that term for you?) is guns.

If you Ammo-sexuals want to keep, sleep with and insert your guns into your privates because I really think it's that sick, then figure out a way to stop this epidemic.

This data tells me that the parents of these kids are pretty much out of touch with their kids, so start with them.

Do something besides shoving the 2nd Amendment in my face and whining about your fucking rights. Your rights end when innocent people who cannot protect themselves die.

I've always had the stance that gun owners should have to go through a gun safety course before owning one, just like hunting. I was surprised at how much I learned in the Hunters safety course.

This doesn't prevent anyone from their freedom. It just makes stupid people work harder to be "not stupid".

The course would show how and why to lock up guns properly. It may show some traditional kids using their parents guns to go on a rampage.

But every time I mention this the crazies start saying that I don't have the right to think this. The 2A is a FREEDOM and no one can change it no matter what......

These Constitutional small brains never read the part of the Constitution that stated it can and will be changed to modify itself to the time. The Constitution directly states it CAN be changed if the people are smart enough to come together and change it. It never states it can never be changed..

to get my concealed carry permit I had to take a safety course and pass a range test.

You don't have to pass any tests to carry it openly on your hip. Normally because the need for this is an extreme situation. But all laws are abused and that is the topic at hand.

By all means, please leave! As a matter of fact, I'd bet people who love our Constitution would be willing to pony up enough cash to buy you a ticket.

Uh, no, guy.

My side is winning elections.

Maybe you all ought to find yourselves a nice Libertarian paradise where they h ave lots of guns and no laws.

Somalia might be just right for you, if it weren't for all the negroes.

Somalia is not libertarian, but just chaos. It would have been a terrible country to live if there would be a government as well.

After Sandy Hook it became obvious that gun control will never be the answer.

Since Lanza took the gun, no background check, strict law buying laws, waiting periods, our the myriad of other restrictions gun grabbers have been pushing for the last thirty years made the least bit of difference.

Was it tragic and terrible...absolutely.

But when I ask the magic question...what constructional gun control law could have stopped Sandy Hook? The answer is silence.

How about a thorough background check. Forget Adam for a moment, it was pretty obvious his mother was batshit crazy. Yet she was able to buy at least 12 weapons and took Adam to the shooting range.

What they are proposing in California right now is a great idea. If someone reports you, the cops have to secure your guns until they can determine if you are a threat or not.

So you're guilty until you prove yourself innocent? Nice, very nice
Joe's last name must be Stalin...

[

I don't believe you are remotely close to sane, Joe. What's more, no one gives a shit what you believe. The SCOTUS in D.C. v Heller as much as said the 2nd Amendment is NOT about militias.

Guy, you're the one with the OCD.

But anyway, Heller is a horseshit ruling, and it won't stand. seriously, if the 2nd was so obviously about gun ownership, then why did it take 230 years for a Court to rule it did?

Kind of like why did it take 100 years for someone to realize there was a right to abortion hiding in the 14th Amendment. This is about legislating from the bench, which is something you wingnuts are usually against.

[
Now, if you honestly think the 2nd should be stricken from the US Constitution, there is a procedure in place for making that happen.

Or we can simply wait for Scalia to retire and get someone who isn't batshit crazy on SCOTUS who might actually rule on the world we live in, and not what some Slave Rapist was thinking 230 years ago.

You know what, a right to own a gun might have made sense 230 years ago when you still had brigands, native tribes, wild animals as an everyday thing. today, not so much. (Waiting for Ernie to spew a whole bunch of totally not racist comments about "gangbangers".)

[
Go for it! Yo'll need to reach a lot of people. As a venue for your campaign kick-off, I'd like to suggest Bryant–Denny Stadium, located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It seats 101,821.

Again, doesn't even have to go that far. Here's the real problem for you gun nuts. You are a shrinking minority.

Wooo, what are you going to do.

Your neighbors have just passed a law that makes bullets cost $1000.00 a box. What are you going to do about it?

Contrast what the Russians are teaching their children with what we don't teach or worse what we do teach to our children.

It's funny how militarized the Russian kids are in contrast to ours but you don't ever hear of any shootings in Russia. Kind of makes you think?
l]

Well, no, Stain-light, it doesn't.

There are only 12 million privately owned guns in Russia, compared to 300 million in the US.

http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/russia

Russia's gun policy is considered restrictive.

Russia also has a pretty high homicide rate- about 13,000 a year compared to 16,000 for the US. But there are no figures as to what percentage of those happen with guns.

Russia also has a pretty high suicide rate- 51,000 compared to 38,000 in the US.

The problem with Wingnuts is they want the benefits of an orderly society without paying the costs- Taxes and following sensible rules.

For as far as I know do libertarians not want the remove all government, that's anarchism. There will still be rules, but a lot less. That is better for the overpopulated prisons as well.
In a libertarian society would taxes not be very high, but we will always have to pay some taxes.
Taxes can be lowered by disbanding the army, DEA, NSA and all those agencies (that is already a lot of money) that do not benefit the people. By ending all forms of welfare and privatizing schools, roads and healthcare we could lower taxes by more than 50%. Courts, prisons and police forces can be handled by a local goverment. The only thing we will have to keep paying taxes for are the Supreme Court and the government to maintain diplomatic relationships. Here, a free society without chaos.

Ah, the lefty phrase 'sensible'. What a joke

-Geaux

Name one.

In CA- The 10-day wait, cool off period after purchase of a gun.

-Geaux

That's a pretty sensible law.

In the words of Homer Simpson... "Waiting period? But I'm angry now!"

Wait- We can discuss if the law makes sense for your FIRST firearm purchase. But what about folks who already have multiple guns at home? What good does it do making them wait 10 days to 'cool off' when they can just go home, take a gun from their safe, and carry out what the 10 day wait is intended to avoid.

Like I said, laws that are not 'sensible'

-Geaux

Maybe he can't carry out a rampage with just one gun, but the ten days might give him time to cool down or maybe his family or room mates to figure out what he's up to.
