Abortion Poll Finds Support For 20-Week Ban

Because SCOTUS said that it violated the 14th amendment.

SCOTUS also said that obozocare was constitutional :cuckoo: Do those 9 people run this country, or do the people?

Since the People's representatives in the legislature passed the Affordable Care Act, and since the People's President signed the Affordable Care Act,

and since the People's Supreme Court found it constitutional,

I'd say that the People got about as much say in the matter as any democratic representative government could give them.

technically you are right. but remember that obamacare was passed by democrats only in the middle of the night on Christmas eve, not GOP amendments were allowed to be discussed or voted on, no open debate on in the senate or house, no one read the bill before it was passed.

the people got screwed by their representatives and the truth is finally coming out that this was a terrible piece of legislation. It will never be fully implemented.

It's amusing to watch how your standards shift based on your partisan personal views and biases.

Nebraska’s new abortion law forced Danielle Deaver to live through ten excruciating days, waiting to give birth to a baby that she and her doctors knew would die minutes later, fighting for breath that would not come.

Abortion Law: Mother Denied Abortion, Then Had To Watch Baby Die

would she have watched it die if it was aborted?

No, she would have been sedated. She had to live with excruciating pain for over a week. Doctors should be making these decisions with the woman whose body it is, not legislators.

Put in your fucking 20 week bans, but jesus fucking christ, put in some "loopholes". Ya'll are really good at giving loopholes to rich people on their taxes... give some to goddamn doctors so they can do their jobs.

The problem is that abortion is either murder or its not. The number of weeks in the womb does not change that basic question.

But, if abortion should be allowed for the "health of the mother". They why not allow infanticide when a 2 year old is driving its mother crazy and keeping her from enjoying life?

This is a black and white issue-----and society is trying to inject shades of gray.

Its a very tough issue and we will never agree 100% on it.

But, why does abortion have to be a major issue in every political campaign. Why not leave it to the states to allow their citizens to decide?

(1) Murder is a legal definition, not a definition of a certain portion of people that want to make abortion illegal.

(2) SCOTUS, yes, makes those decisions. In this case, both houses and the senate signed off on ACA and the court said it was constitutional.

(3) A tiny minority out on the far right will not decided what is constitutional.

oh, how hypocritical. so being sedated for abortion will take away an "excrutianing pain*?

Because they could not perform an abortion on her she had to wait until she went into labor "naturally". That took 10 days after her water broke. She was in pain that entire time.

Let doctors and their patients make these decisions.

63% of americans do not want obamacare. That is not a tiny minority. It is a significant majority.

the people of Ca voted twice to ban gay marriage i.e. the will of the people. 9 people defied the will of the people. That, my left wing friend, is wrong.

I have no issue with an abortion exception for cases like this, or rape or incest. But not as a method of birth control.

my standards are consistent. small unintrusive federal govt, states rights, individual freedom, low taxes, society's morals and ethics decided by a majority vote.

The Right loves to pass laws that they know will never stand judicial review. It is all about posturing to their base. The Texas law will never hold up in the suprme Court, but the Texans who passed it will have yet another divisive issue that they can wave in front of the crowd at election time. What is really bizare is that they never "get it" that they are continuing to alienate the voters on a national basis, in favor of impressing the local shitkickers. They are seriously motivating female voters in Texas who otherwise would not have given a rat's ass who went to Austin. Granted, this probably will not turn Texas blue, but it has a ripple effed all over the country. Nobody is being fooled by all this nonsense about requiring abortions in "surgical ceners" and other restrictions that they have superglued to the bill.

NOBODY on the planet thinks abortion should be a method of birth control, but birth control fails sometimes.

99% of abortions take place before the 20th week, but if you are going to legislate it at 20, you must allow for exceptions for cases like this.

(The 20 week restriction isn't the really bad part of these bills like in TX.)

It is all pretty much academic anyway. making abortion illegal under any circomstances will work almost as well as prohition did. Being old enough to remember when it was outlawed altogether, I know what comes next, which is a disrespect for the law in general, and a sort of underground network for people willing to pay for a service, and other people willing to provide it for a price.

When you outlaw abortion, poor women seek back alleys and coat hangars. Rich women "know people" and have the "problem taken care of".

Safe, legal, rare.

Very true, and the beat goes on....

There is a much better alternative for women it doesn't have to be as shitty as you describe. It can be an out come of love not selfishness.

The women in Texas that don't like laws protecting the most innocent of society need to move to a blue state that wants to be red with the blood of the unborn. There they can pretend to be happy.

No, they won't do that. after all, there is no penalty to the woman under the abortion law, just to the provider. All Texas has done is to create yet another class of criminals. The women will keep on having sex (Surprise!), and abortions, and Texans can feel good about themselves, even though no abortions will be prevented. However, Texans can glow in their self rightous status, which puts them right up front in the "Amen!" pew.

Sandra Fluke does, and she was a spokesperson for the democrat party.

I think we agree, the 20 week limit is very reasonable and it will not force women into dark alleys with coat hangers.

the problem is a societal one when girls are not ashamed of becoming pregnant out of marriage. our morals have gone into the gutter thanks to hollywood and the music industry----plus a government that operates with absolutely no moral compass.
