Civil War?

Seems that Wayne Lapierre and Oliver North are fighting over the bones of an NRA that has seen its contributions lag in the face of the opposition that increased because of recent mass shootings.

Who says the NRA is facing a crisis which you imply by alluding to the "bones" of the organization and lagging contributions?
Time magazine, no conservative fan by any means, has a completely opposite take. Gun Group Membership Is Spiking After the Florida Shooting
It says membership is spiking after the shooting in Florida. Has a thread ever been shut down after one post?

Actually, contributions are lagging because there is no current danger of gun restrictions.

Should that change, you will see both contributions and memberships skyrocket. It happens every time.

Also, the industry lost their finest salesman in 2017.

The NRA lost its way decades ago when it stopped being about firearm safety and training and got involved in rightwing politics.

protecting second amendment is the NRA’s mission now mostly because you libtards removed them from all the places they taught firearm safety. You democrats turned the NRA into a political machine.

Absolutely. Thank the left for the NRA's hard turn to the right and becoming a player in national politics like Planned Parenthood has been.
The more the left tries to pry firearms from the "cold dead fingers" of the public the more they are driven into the waiting arms of the NRA.

And I'm not a member and don't know much about Wayne Lapierre but everything I have heard has been not good. It could be absolute power corrupted him absolutely.

They are, it’s been going on for years. If you are anti NRA, you want Wane Lapierre to win. He is the most effective drag on the NRA you could ever have.
LaPierre is a prick. You got that one right.

To back and look up LaPierre and Neal Knox. Those two were in the first big war. LaPierre went more into elections and getting cozy with politicians. Neal Knox was more about fighting in court and getting laws passed. Wane LaPierre really ran the organization into the ground.

Contributions are not lagging, they are at record levels. The financial issues facing the NRA are from racketeering activities by the states of New York and California, who use taxpayer money to bring an endless stream of frivolous and baseless lawsuits that the NRA must defend against.

‘Contributions to the NRA are lagging, The New York Times reports, and the organization is facing an increasingly well-financed opposition movement in the wake of several mass shootings.

The dispute between LaPierre and North originated in part from a dispute between the NRA and Ackerman McQueen Inc., the Journal reports, which resulted in a lawsuit filed earlier this month by the NRA.

In the lawsuit, the NRA claimed Ackerman McQueen did not justify its billings with records, according to the Journal. Ackerman McQueen called the lawsuit "frivolous" and "inaccurate," the Journal reports.’ ibid

LaPierre and North – two of the more reprehensible rightwing scumbags; yet another thing wrong with the NRA.

‘Contributions to the NRA are lagging,
My citation from Time magazine of 2018 disputes this statement of yours.

According to them memberships and contributions spiked after the Broward county fiasco where LEOs ignored a sea of red flags about the shooter and Broward county sheriff's deputies did little to nothing to intervene in the slaughter, though they clearly could have.

Law suits have predictably been filed against Scott Israel and his band of cowardly clowns.

/---/ The director of the Automobile Association of America should resign over the number of drunk drivers on the road.

They are feeling the affects of the internet just like brick and mortar retailers. The only thing they sell (just like the AARP, spotted owl society, World Wild Life Fund, etc…) is advocacy. Advocacy in part is based on threats which don’t exist since Trump is their puppet. The other part is based on information. These groups no longer are the “only ones” talking about gun rights. They compete with all of the right wing wacko sites trying to whip hysteria up among gun nuts. All of these organizations will have a tough time going forward.

Yeah, especially if he were pushing to eliminate any laws against drunk driving. Which is basically what the NRA is doing.

The financial issues for the NRA are purely from racketeering activities by crooks who use taxpayer funds to push their radical left agenda.

NRA Sues New York Over Threats Against Financial Institutions | National Review

New York and California have illegally used law enforcement and bank regulators to harass and intimidate legal business that do business with the NRA.

It's racketeering, pure and simple. The states use taxpayer funds to burn down the businesses that are suppliers and partners with their target. Same shit Al Capone did. The federal government, if not so fucking corrupt, would be arresting the perpetrators in the two states, including fuckwad Cuomo on RICO violations.
