Does Anyone Disagree with This?

"You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right. Well I'd like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There's only an up or down"

Anyone have a problem with the above thoughts?

I actually think most people are a little bit of each in this country because we have people who support reducing tax breaks on the rich and don't care if gays can get married. Do you see my point.

I tend to disagree with Ronald Reagan on most things. I suppose this wouldn't be an exception.

Agree with the first part. Don't see the sense of the second part. Eclecticism prevents dualism.
Can you explain that a little more fully? It's been a long day.
For you yes. I prefer terse statements that require thought without slinging 'feces'.
There is agreement that the division into 'right' and 'left' is more than can be accepted. Dividing instead into another binary mode is a distinction without a difference, and, so, to be equally eschewed. Eclecticism, choosing what works, is to be preferred, and that, by definition, means being flexible and responsive, not decided and dead.
Is that better?

Who will be the "up" and who will be the "down"? It seems to just be switching directions without trying to eliminate the polarization. North/South instead of East/West.
I read in an Op Ed a couple days ago that whoever we are, whatever we believe, please, please, please listen to each other. Not necessary to agree, but listen. Stop screaming and using divisive rhetoric. Breathe. Listen. Ask questions and try to understand the other side.
That's kind of a lot to ask here, but some of us are up to it. Don't you think?

Nothing is more divisive than false accusations of racism.

Listen? LOL.

Ask questions? If you ask a question with no intent of listening to that answer, that is very divisive.

Okay. I agree.
Nothing is more divisive than false accusations of racism.
What are you referring to? I would agree, but I don't know where that's entered this discussion.

It entered the discussion when you asked that we listen to each other.

IMO, the single biggest factor in us NOT listening to each other is the CONSTANT use of false accusations of Racism by the Left to silence and marginalize the Right, ie The Race Card.

EVERY TIME it is used, it tells any minorities or liberals that hear it, to NOT listen to the person/people being accused of racism, because they are racist, and thus they have no credibility.

It also enrages those who are falsely accused and any who hear the accusation and identify with the falsely accused, and tells them that those who are accusing them are not credible and should not be listened to.

Yes, thanks. Isn't that what in the old days used to be called "moderates" on the spectrum? It seems these days if you are anywhere close to reasonable, willing to compromise, you're called a neo-something or a Rhino. I think Eclecticism, which you mention, sounds very reasonable.

Well, like I said, I agree. Since no one is calling you a racist here, it seems you may be bringing preconceived notions -- baggage -- to your discussion. Can you put that to the side UNTIL someone calls you a racist, for the sake of this discussion?

You choose a candidate that best fits your needs. The middle class have only one choice, Democrats.

I didn't bring it up because of any personal issue.

I brought it up as, IMO, the biggest single cause of people not listening to each other.

The reasons that many middle class people disagree has been ENDLESSLY discussed.

Have you EVER listened to those reasons? Or just dismissed them and called them names?

Who will be the "up" and who will be the "down"? .....

Not "and," but "or." As for who, it's all of us as a nation.
I fail to see the difference in 'and' / 'or. One needs to be excluded if you use 'or,' don't they? I realize we're talking

Of course not. Your reaction and assumption perfectly illustrate the problem.

Some additional details on what you mean by Up and DOwn, might be helpful.

Do you have any intention of explaining what you mean, then, by up and down? Or just being an insulting prick, as usual.

The usual I would say.

I don't agree. When it comes to left and right, each have their own solutions and sometimes one is just better.

Some are comfortable with socialism, for instance. Those able-bodied people who haven't done much for themselves would be better off, at least temporarily so for them, it would be an "up." Others who are doing fine would have to give up a lot so, for them, it would be a "down." The left's solution would be both up and down not one or the other. Instead pushing people to elevate themselves and ensuring that the playing field is level, they have a tendency to lower others to achieve equal outcomes. It would be better for everyone if they could improve, but when nearly half are robbed, their standard of living declines.

Now look at foreign policy. Bringing more radical Muslims here is an "up" for them, but we've seen in France, Germany and Great Britain that it's a "down" for the citizens. The tax payers in countries are footing the bill so they can be afraid to leave their homes in some places.

Giving away billions in foreign aid to hostile countries is a big "up" for the dictators but a "down" for American tax payers and generally does nothing for the little people in those socialist or communist countries.

Sometimes it is about right and wrong. Wrong being left.

You must have a hell of a time trying to locate an address.

It isn't about 'Left vs. Right' or 'D vs. R.' Those are outdated non-existent paradigms. It's about the NWO Globalists vs. Those who love America and want to preserve it and its Constitution. That's the only real battle there is.
