Educating Democrats: Economics

Does the chart reflect the real costs?

dear, I think most agree there are trillion and trillions in unfunded liabilities

Did the right-wing work to bring down medical costs or did they continue to support this corporate welfare?

too stupid. The right wants to reduce costs about 70% with capitalism, i.e., patients spending their own money and providers competing on basis of price and quality.

If you are not smart enough to be here why are you here?????

Medical costs could be cut in half in this country with universal health care. Health care is a racket the Republicans support. The rich can find better and more productive investments. We need a single payer system funded by the government and operated by a tax exempt non-profit organization. We need to negotiate drug prices and most drugs aren't even made by American corporations or made in America.

too stupid but 100% liberal!!

Red China tried univeral health care and universal everything and 60 million slowly starved to death. Then they switched to capitalist incentives and everyone suddenly got rich!!

So when Jefferson purchased Louisiana he planned on that HUGE welfare Homestead program which even relied on our military to clear the nattives?

None the less it worked and populated the continent until them liberal anti monopoly and pro worker laws would be thought up which made industrial cities more tolerable than fighting off Indians. So if Jefferson saw its need good for him.

I happen to have studied the health care system in America and know more than 80% of our hospitals are tax exempt, non-profit organization, but they just don't act like it. Before Reagan changed the tax exemption for health care insurers, we didn't have these problems in our health care industry. Many things done in health care can be done in clinics. A tax exempt, non-profit organization could be set up and funded by the government for basic care and offer premium care for people wanting additional coverage, priced solely on a cost basis. The government should turn over all medicaid, medicare, military and VA hospitals to this non-profit and get out of the health care business except for corpsman-like and oversight to insure it's proper functioning. To save money, hospitals should join and collectively purchase medical supply companies and the government should extent a tax exemption for those as tax exempt, non-profits as well. The government should negotiate drug prices, like other countries and considering our size, we should be getting the cheapest prices in the world, because of economics of scale. Doctors performing services would bill this non-profit by using a health care credit card that requires the user to verify it's use, just like a pin system, for anyone conscious. The patient is verifying the doctor's service, so the doctor isn't even billing the non-profit, in fact it's the patient making the contact. That way the only fraud possible would involve a conspiracy between doctor and patient and the system could be checked for strange activity. If anything isn't covered, the patient can be instantly billed, before leaving. Since hospitals are part of the same non-profit organization, their care amounts to billing themselves and a patient who is receiving care not covered by basic care. Premium care is also self-billing. This will drastically cut down on overhead costs for medical care and medical supply costs. If medical supplies are produced for use outside the tax exempt, non-profit organization by a member supplier, they are taxed on any profit gained.

The theme of the tax exempt, non-profit organization is to assist health care providers, meaning doctors and nurses, to provide the best health care possible to anyone inside the United States, so we are going to have to settle some illegal immigration problems and make arrangements with other nations, if there are policies for reimbursement for medical expenses. We should respect the traditons of health care providers of giving assistance to the injured and ill, regardless of status. The government can figure out the best method to pay for the health care system, but let's face it there is no such thing as a free lunch and paying less is better than paying more. This frees up American corporations from the burden of ever increasing health care costs, they can elect to give basic coverage or pay more for premium coverage. Premium coverage would only be things not considered normal medical care and I doubt most corporations would want to cover it. These changes would cut out about a trillion dollars per year of unnecessary health care costs from what we presently do. The rich who presently benefit by investing in our present system can just find better and more productive things to invest in. It's time the slogan "We make money the old fashion way, we earn it" is put back in vogue.

Then take the figures from the first link and post them!

http://www.census.gov/prod/2011pubs/cffr-10.pdf

Food stamps isn't included in that data anymore, but you can get the monthly reports for that too.

Stop hiding behind generalities and rhetoric and be the first right-wing to use actual numbers to make your case!

Who is hiding? I asked if you knew - you're silence is deafening...

3. In 2011, the total cost of federal and state means-tested welfare programs was $927 billion, an all-time high. That includes more than 80 federal programs but does not include spending on Social Security or Medicare. The amount is 16 times higher than it was in 1964 when the government began the “War on Poverty.”

Payroll taxes pay for medical care, so how is that welfare? Have you ever heard of employers paying for unemployment benefits? How is that welfare? Either get the figures from the link or shut the fuck up!

http://www.census.gov/prod/2011pubs/fas-10.pdf

Seriosuly folks, how do you even respond to something this fucking stupid?

Medicaid is 100% welfare. People on Medicaid don't pay into it and use it to receive free healthcare.

Furthermore, where do you get that "payroll taxes" pay for it? All taxes go into the same pot you stupid fuck. If you think the federal government sets aside specific taxes for specific spending, you are truly are a special kind of stupid. Hell, Social Security was supposed to be the one tax set up that way and the federal government started raiding that for other spending about 17 minutes after it was set up.

Bottom line, we spend about $1 trillion a year on parasites like you who feed off of hard working tax payers and give nothing back in return.

I guess fools do it by making the letters bigger.

We would not be in this mess if it wasn't for collectivism ideology and entitlement policies.
Why is it that the left think that the Government is the answer to everything?
Everything that the Government does, costs too much, wastes too much and makes everyone a slave to the Government.

This government is the answer to the ultra-rich and not the American people. You should know, you're their puppet.

Lobbyists money is quite a bit of the problem with both parties.
Repubs are the only ones trying to deal with the debt.
Not the Dem's.
Dem's are in denial just like they were with the Housing Bubble problems.
Both parties were to blame for the housing crisis, but the new bill by Dodd and Frank is going to create another one, and Repubs won't do anything about it.

So where do the American people go from here?
Both parties have things set up, so that it is almost impossible for any third parties to get elected.

dear, Republicans are opposed to lobbyists while Democrats love them and create them. Republicans sign the pledge, remember??? If Republicans ruled the government would be too small and powerless to be worth lobbying!!

Got it now??

The Republicans will stop giving a fuck about the debt as soon as they are in power again, just like during the Bush years.

Both parties were to blame for the housing crisis,

How on earth can you say that when Democrats organized much of government to get people into homes the Republican free market said they could not afford.

To this day Republicans want to get rid of Fanny Freddie while Democrats don't!!

Why do you get things 100% backwards????????? Are you a liberal??

Hey, I know, why don't you tell us again how Medicaid is "not welfare" because it is "paid for by payroll taxes"? :lmao:

dear, that depends if they are Republicans of the libertarian, Tea Party, Jeffersonian, conservative, or Newt wing of the Party, and that depends on who the voters elect.

Your assumption that the party is monolithic over time is stupid and liberal.

Considering we've been running deficits for many years and Republicans have done jack shit about it, I'll stick to my prior statement.

of course as a liberal you will not ever be making sense. Newt's Balanced Budget Amendment passed the house and fell one vote short in the Senate. Democrats have killed all 30 BBA's Republicans have introduced since Jefferson's first.

See why I mean about making sense????

It's corporate welfare and so is all welfare. I guess the concept that people need to be alive and healthy to work in society went right over the heads of right-wingers, along with everything else that has never made sense to the fool.

Does that chart reflect the actual medical costs or not? The government is not spending money when it collects and transfers it. Collecting and not tranferring the money is a scam. In real terms, the government is paying more than enough than the medical industry needs to be paid for their services, so it's Chinese dollar accounting that is involved. The whole thing is as phony as that chart.

Count up the doctors and nurses in our country and see how much they would be paid for what we pay! Those hospitals are usually bought and paid for many times over, so where is the wasted money going? It's not going to doctors and nurses.

Lets talk about Obama's federal budgets for the last 4 years--------oh, there weren't any? But the house passed several budget bills but Reid did not let a single one come to a vote in the senate--------was he afraid one might pass?

WTF is going on with these violators of federal law, you do know that a budget is a constitutional requirement don't you?
