Electric vehicles close to ‘tipping point’ of mass adoption

Dang man, you sure sound like you chug a lot of politico cool-aid.

EVs are superior in many ways and people will get them over gasoline cars, it's as simple as that.

If they are so superior why does the government have to steal money from the taxpayer to give to the rich people to buy them?

Steal money? Seriously?

Tesla's EV credits have ran out years ago, they are doing great.

The government gives you a tax break to buy an EV. It's called the Electric Vehicle Tax Credit. Where do you think that money comes from to pay for it? From the regular taxpayers.

Here is the most current iteration. I know you specialize in being a moron, but don't think we are all at your low level of knowledge.

How to Claim the EV Federal Tax Credit

Since it is a tax credit, you do not get it immediately upon purchasing the EV. You apply for the EV federal tax credit when you file your taxes for the year you purchased the vehicle. If you purchased a new EV in May of 2021, you would apply for the tax credit when you file your 2021 taxes at the beginning of 2022.

You must fill out IRS Form 8936 when filing your annual income tax returns. Keep in mind that not all online or software-based tax systems support this form.

So..progress..as always..being driven by consumer demand:

In a poll of electric car owners, 91% said they would not want to return to petrol.

Electric vehicles are close to the “tipping point” of rapid mass adoption thanks to the plummeting cost of batteries, experts say.
Global sales rose 43% in 2020, but even faster growth is anticipated when continuing falls in battery prices bring the price of electric cars dipping below that of equivalent petrol and diesel models, even without subsidies. The latest analyses forecast that to happen some time between 2023 and 2025.
The tipping point has already been passed in Norway, where tax breaks mean electric cars are cheaper. The market share of battery-powered cars soared to 54% in 2020 in the Nordic country, compared with less than 5% in most European nations.

Transport is a major source of carbon emissions and electric cars are vital in efforts to fight the climate crisis. But, while they are already cheaper to run, their higher purchase price is a barrier to mass uptake. The other key factor is “range anxiety”, but this week the first factory production began of batteries capable of giving a 200-mile charge in five minutes.
Took a new Nissan Leaf for a ride the other day....it's not a Tesla but man I was blown away.....very surprising.

Yep....they still do... I looked at a Nissan leaf the other day to think about buying and it came with a promise of $7,500.00 rebate.

Why? They aren't a magic carpet. I drove an Ampera all over London a few years ago. Nice car, and great for the urban environment. But useless on a long drive.

The grid in this country looks like a Rue Goldberg production.......lolol

We'll be driving like the Flintstones eventually.......Yabba...Dabba....Doooooo
Oh man....you are not just a'kiddin..... we are on the verge of a mass meltdown....it's pretty serious. In fact it's so bad that solar installations in houses are limited to 10kw in order to prevent back-feed overload and line melting. Better off to stay detached from the Grid and Run DC appliances set up for a solar panel feed or a low grade DC to AC inverter.

Yeah I had to let it go....not enough range for me...it would be unworkable. Surprised by torque and power though.

Toyota Prius sales have declined for 9 straight years now:

Gee I wonder why EV are getting more sales and Toyota Prius is fading despite being a far better buy than ALL EV's, maybe it is the $7500 hook that is doing a lot of it?

Lol I know exactly what it is and NO it is not stealing unless you consider any government taxing and spending you don't happen to like stealing. That's just nutbag hyperbole.

Tesla buyers DO NOT receive any Federal tax credits as of a few years ago, because they phase out for any manufacturer that sold over 100,000 EVs

Clearly you DIDN'T know it still was extant or you wouldn't have made such an ass of yourself. And yes, it is taking money from the poor and the middle class, to give to rich people who otherwise wouldn't buy the EV's. So simple a moron can understand.

Hello sub moron. :bye1:

Are you drunk?

Tesla's cars are no longer eligible for federal tax credit as of a few years ago, yet the company is expanding, increasing production and turning profits. Not a single fucking thing you said can refute that, so just put that tail between your legs and run along now.

That is false, my brother is driving his second one, I have been in the vehicle it did fine in the Seattle area with those rolling hills in the area.

The heater and A/C worked fine the entire time, never have to worry about.

There are over 2 MILLION of them on the road.

Nope you are still wrong, yes it has run out on some cars such as Tesla but not on others:

Yes, you can still get electric vehicle tax credits — here’s a guide

While the Biden administration’s proposal to include $100 billion in new electric car subsidies is no longer part of the infrastructure bill wending its way through Congress, those considering an EV in part due to the tax breaks shouldn’t panic.

======

Biden wanted to reopen the subsidies for Tesla and GM, but it was thwarted thankfully.
