I live in northeast Ohio where deer season opens later this week. Deer hunting is to this area as skiing is to Aspen. Skeet and trap shooters shoot two miles down the road from me and the din of shotgun fire persists until sunset, especially on the weekends and Wednesday's. We fired .22 rifles at Boy Scout camp. My father was a single action pistol enthusiast.

Guess what! Those shooting sports use sporting grade weapons. Not practical nor needed are semi-automatic firing systems and large capacity magazines. It's rounded the bend and gone into someplace else to claim the semi-automatic weapons could be described as 'sporting' grade weapons.

If the military and police have those weapons…which we give them….then they also belong to us…..there is no reason that only the police and military get to carry certain weapons but the people who pay them, train them and supply them can't….the roots of genocide, mass murder and ethnic cleansing are an unarmed population and a well armed, hostile government…...

No...you are wrong...the "assault" weapon ban in 1996 was another feel good, really stupid gun law that did nothing to stop violent criminals or mass shooters from getting guns and when it ended nothing changed either way....it was a huge, waste of time that accomplished nothing and was just plain stupid........

France has an assault weapon ban...a real one...their people cannot own military weapons or fully automatic weapons....and every criminal or terrorist who wants one has absolutely no problem getting them....
