Happens every time. The Leftists whine because they're not hauling in enough money to pay for their pet projects so they want more from us! And, one they hike the taxes, they're not about to lower them when the prices go up again. And, of course, the New York Times is the one to pose the question.
And, because the current Congress is “so fearful of raising taxes” it's up to the states to do it!
The case for more transportation investment is very strong. Study after study finds that the country’s roads, bridges and rail lines are inadequate and that public spending on transportation as a percentage of the gross domestic product has been stagnant for several decades. More investment would not just improve roads and railways. It would also boost the economy by creating jobs and improving efficiency.
Yep. We couldn't fix this stuff when gasoline was near $4 per gallon so we need to jack up the taxes because it's at $2 or less.
And we want to give these people another four years of socialist leadership?
