How does Trump plan on winning a general election by appealing to only 35% of white people?

Maybe the reason is there are other candidates getting votes in the Primaries?
that would be my guess...... :bang3:
Because after the primary, GOP nominees win general elections?
heh.png

Err, sometimes.

You do realize that, right?
The demographics and attitudes of this country have changed immensely since a GOP presidential candidate has won a general election (and Bush only just barely won that first one). I don't think a GOP presidential candidate has had the popular vote since the 80s

Trump isn't conservative though so maybe the general election will be kind to him

It may be that we have already passed a "Tipping Point" after which no REpublican can ever win again.

But the polls don't seem to support that as of yet.

because it's thirty five percent of both, maybe all three parties ??
You think 35% of democratic voters would vote for Donald Trump? Oh man

Just because someone is a primary is voting for another republican, doesn't mean that they are unwilling to vote for Trump.

There were plenty of times that the nominee was not my first choice and I still voted for them. Hell, sometimes I was quite happy even with the second choice.

That's the normal gop voters.

YOu get ever 20% of white dem voters to cross,

And then get some blacks who want manufacturing jobs back in the country and/or who realizes that immigrants compete against him for jobs.

And then even some hispanics who don't want America to become like the shit hole they left behind, and

Ta-Da, President Trump.

Daydreams are a lot of fun. Don't have much to do with reality, but hey. Reality sucks, right?

Polls and voter turnout in the primaries shows your confidence to be uncalled for.

Results of the Republican Party presidential primaries, 2012 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Let's just take a look back to 2012, the primaries we've had so far, and look at Romney.

Iowa, Romney got 25% (Trump 24%)
New Hampshire 39% (Trump 35%)
South Carolina 28% (Trump 32%)
Nevada 49% (Trump 46%)
Oklahoma 28% (Trump 28%)
Tennessee 28% (Trump 38%)
Georgia 26% (Trump 38%)
Massachusetts 72% (Trump 49%) Romney former governor
Vermont 39% (Trump 32%)

So Trump is right there with Romney, except TRUMP won more primaries and there has been greater turnout. I read one primary, Trump won with more votes than the TOTAL turnout in to that same primary in 2012.

Now, before you say "but Romney lost", Romney did not win as many primaries as Trump has, he didn't get the record breaking voter turnouts that Trump has, his "rallies" look like Hillary's not Trump's, and he didn't have an iota of enthusiasm behind his campaign...not even a drop.

And with all those negatives, he only lost by 4.9%.

Trump has much higher negatives than Romney did, amongst both the general population and within the Republican party itself.

The electoral collage overweights rural areas. This is why running up the numbers in places like NY and CA doesn't matter. Trump just needs to win Ohio and Florida.

But your point is well taken. Trump is appealing to Nixon's Silent Majority, who are the angry whites people left behind by a changing America.

The population is becoming more diverse. More brown skinned.

The violence of the Trump Movement makes sense, especially when you realize that Trump supporters are scared, confused and angry.

The white nation of their youth is almost gone and they are not going down without a fight.

Trump has created a home for their violence. Rather than trying to unite people, he gives speeches about the evil of Mexicans, Muslims and blacks.

God help us. See Germany 1933 when a similar movement was built on fear, hate and exclusion.

Londoner is correct in part of his post, that because of electoral politics, Trump could win handily while losing California and the deep blue states big. Depending upon how Florida and Ohio come out along with turnout, the Democratic angst will either rise considerably, or be alleviated some what.

I expect Trump is going to win Florida rather easily. If he pulls Ohio and the turnout is tremendous in both states for the GOP, it has to become apparent to even those who don't really totally understand electoral politics, that the path for Trump to win the Presidency is there, and does exist refuting what the left would have you believe.

Now the left would also have you believe that many republicans won't vote for Trump. Maybe, maybe not! You see, the left is really, really, REALLY good at painting the other sides candidates as the devil him/her self. They did an excellent job with Romney, and that helped energize their base, but that was in defense of Obama.

Not so this time for 2 reasons........
1. Hilary is not Obama, and Bernie is a Socialist.

2. Trump is not afraid to paint a picture of his own about the Democratic nominee as Romney was that would energize Republicans and independents to show at the polls; not in the defense of Trump, but in the defense of America.

Remember the words of Romney, and I am paraphrasing here---------> Mr Obama is a very nice man, with bad ideas.

Obama campaign reply-----------> Mitt Romney is an out of touch rich dude who is dangerous.

Trump is going to be totally different, he will attack the left and have no mercy on the Dem nominee. And it won't be his surrogates, it will be him personally on many occasions, questioning what has been done, and how does America like it so far!

If Romney would have asked that question and pounded it home, there would be no Trump, as he would have been running for a 2nd term.

Yep, I've heard you beat that drum until you wore it out...and yet Trump has won more Primaries than Romney, has driven unbelievably high turnout, and has a much higher entusiasm ratio than any other candidate.

20,000 people at Trumps KC, MO rally last night...Cruz got less than 1,000 and Rubio and Kasich poll so poorly, they didn't even bother to show up. Two losers that have to devote all their energy to defending their home states.

I'll wait for you to back up your point that it's about race. A home for violence? Oh, so that's why the agitators go to the rallies? If they want an ass kicking they should have it.

Romney would have been running for a second term? Romney is as bad as Bush. They had exactly the same policies. Democrats lost with Lurch because he was too stupid to defend his military record thinking, stupidly, that Americans are too smart to let someone with a sterling military record be trashed. And he wanted to run a "positive" campaign after Bush trashed the country. He should have made Bush and the GOP OWN their disastrous record. By time Bush won the second term, Republicans believed Iraq and 9/11 were the fault of the Democrats.

If someone called me a rapist, I might go to a rally to deny it. What dirty asshole creeps to smear an entire group of Americans. Don't you agree?

That's the most bizarre political interpretation of that race I've ever heard. Kerry threw his metals over the WH fence and went on to accuse our soldiers of acting like Gengis Khan. The left was unable to polish the turd to an acceptable level.

But then again, you're an idiot. Going to a rally to stir up shit to prove how innocent you are? LOL

Why you worried about it? If you ain't for Trump then you are automatically against America and making it great again so go vote for Shillary.

The polls that show Trump consistently losing to Hillary? The ones that show increasing numbers of people vowing they will never vote for Trump? Voter turnout where Democrats cross over to the Republican primary, but have no intention of voting Republican in the general election?

Like I said, daydreaming about how everyone's going to feel pressured and strong-armed into giving you your way are fun, but it ain't gonna happen.

Okay, well, that's my limit. I'll be back later, when my allergy to ignorant, redneck simpletons has calmed down.

Triple the amount of my posts and I have more rep points than you do gee I wonder why..such a whining little elitist bitch.

When it comes down to the REPs wanting to elect a REP President over Hillary the REPs could run Charlie Manson and win.

Only 29% of voters are registered Republicans. Trump has the support of 35% of Republicans, and positive condemnation from pretty much everyone else. That calculates to 10% of American voters.

Of course, Trump was never in it to win it. He remains nothing more than a liberal Trojan Horse.

Polls that show Trump well within closing distance of HIllary and turnouts that show which side has the energy.

I am not confident about the election. I know that, at this point, it could go either way.

You are the one fantasizing that it is certain to go the way you want it to.
