I have a Goodwill Store near me and it is always full of people buying used clothes, furniture and household goods.

That is how poor people are stretching their dollar

Some. Some others are buying $100 toys.

Maybe the people in the Goodwill are not the poor people, but the middle class, who have been hit so hard with high rents, high groceries, high gas, etc., etc., that they are now going to the Goodwill.

There’s another element to consider.

What is so bad about children knowing that because their parents did not prepare for a career, or acquire job skills, that they are on welfare and cannot get a $100 toy? It is incentive to do well for oneself in the future, get career training, and know that when they get married and have children, they will be able to afford expensive toys for them, if they wish.

It’s incentive to do better. If one is given the same stuff as a poor person that the middle class has to work for to buy, the incentive is killed. That, in a nutshell, is the problem with socialism.

(Granted, 6 is a little young for the lesson. But 9 or 10 is not.)
