Is there anyone else besides me who now feels uncomfortable in the company of Democrats?

My problem is that I’m both a nice person and sometimes (often) too sensitive for my own good. Because of the first, leftists who have been convinced Trump voters are awful people assume I did not vote for him, and because of the second, I am insulted and angry when they start their demeaning remarks about Trump voters In front of me, or even directed at me (not knowing).

And as Biden has ramped up his attack on Republicans, leading poorly informed people to believe that all Trump voters are threats to democracy, traitors to the nation, white supremacists, and so forth, the freely expressed contempt has ramped up as well. It was particularly bad at a dinner I attended last night.

How do my fellow Trump supporters handle this? If you are in a group meeting, and they start with the nasty remarks, are you continuing to hit back, attempt to educate them, or what? This has been going on for five years, and I hate that any get-together with Democrats becomes a battle as they never fail to bring up Trump voters, and not in a nice way.

I am curious as to how you all handle this, especially since it’s gotten much worse since Biden made it clear he considers Trump voters the enemies of the country.
Biden is talking about election deniers. Pure piffle and anti-American and dangerous...

You can't educate democrats, that is how they BECOME democrats. If I'm out anywhere and I hear erroneous leftwing political baloney, I shut them down with facts immediately and shut them up. Amazingly easy to do.
I’ve done that at times, and of course always win the debate because I have knowledge and they don‘t, but when you’re at a group dinner meant to be friendly, it would escalate the hostility started by the Democrat. Do it anyway?

Depends on the situation. You gotta play it by ear. No point ARGUING with people, that just drives both side farther apart--- you either just prove them wrong by example with irrefutable facts (the best ones are the ones they supply) or agree that everyone should just drop the subject for another time and place. Either way, always best to do it using the leader principle without polarizing the situation. Where there is no polarity, there can be no contention. Real easy to let lefties back themselves up into corners of their own making.

I live in the panhandle of Florida. People here liked Trump and really like Governor DeSantis. You would probably love it here.

You don’t even make sense. This was at a social event, and I obviously don’t bring up politics IRL - especially since this is a liberal area and I know how hateful they are - which is why they assume I hate Trump voters as much as they.
I’m just assuming you behave there like you do here.

And your nasty and false contribution to the thread just demonstrates the type of hate Republicans are up against.

Really. Perhaps you need to move where I am. I don’t discuss politics much, but I sure do hear a lot from people who assume I share the same political leanings. From my neighbor who referred to the “n-word in the White House” when Obama was president to people shredding Biden voters as treasonous scumbags, who stole an election. I’m just not seeing how Republicans are up against any more hate than those they claim to hate.

Here’s a suggestion. Instead of a multi-paragraph complaint on how horrible liberals are, try redirection. Change the subject. Or walk away. I do. There is more to a person than their politics.

Or you could follow the facts and realize right wing propaganda is total garbage... The rich do not pay enough in taxes, there is no evidence of any pedophilia or fraud in elections or any other crap you believe. Cheap college and training is not communism, they have it everywhere else in the modern world. Et cetera etcetera

Thanks, and it’s a definite consideration once I am in a position to relocate. A friend of mine who lived here, and was so fed up with the Democrats’ hatred, moved to the west coast of Florida - around Tampa - and loves it there.

I was treated like a dog from a friend of nearly 50 yrs, a close friend. We went to highschool together she and another girl. They tag teamed and bullied me. They sort of broke my spirit so I don’t ever talk politics with anyone I know if I even remotely think they could be liberal. I certainly would never mention to my doctor, dentist, food server etc my political offilation. I saw what partisan politics did to my former friend so I just don’t trust anyone anymore.
I wouldn't never let someone I went to school with break me. I'm my own person, dammit!

There's also the issue of so many Trump cultists being white supremacists, antisemites and Nazis. You don't have to be polite to Nazis. You just shun them, and you don't need to make any excuses for doing so.

So you think people do have to be polite to Nazis? Not being a PC weenie, I have to disagree. Not all lifestyles are equally valid and worthy of respect.

The Q-cult is openly antisemitic. That's half the Trump cult, and Trump himself is now pushing the Q-conspiracies. Decent people won't be associated with such filth.
I'm telling you this as a word to the wise: Treat other people with respect or you might get your shit split. You come off to me in public with that leftarded bullshit caling me a Nazi and all that?! Click! Night night, termite. Sorry about your jaw having to get wired shut, dumbass.
Now I'm willing to hear all points of view, but that kind of Balkanization when my family actually killed Nazis; Fuck you with that! Oh Hell naw!

Didn't concede the election, lawsuit after lawsuit, January 6th. And that was just the last three months of his Presidency.
Goes to the CIA wall and talks about....his inauguration crowd....and it's all downhill from there. Destroys our norms, civility (what little of it was left), casts doubt on all our democratic processes that we've held in place for over 250 years.

Yeah..I'd call that destroying the nation. And it's still going on.
Doom rats don’t concede elections. Many didn’t concede and disputed 2016 as legit. Was that wrong?

Democrats filed law suits constantly, every election since 2004. Not unique.

Jan 6, we should just ignore all the riots and stupid marches from 2016 on.

Is the CIA, DOJ or federal government beyond question these days? I don’t see any evidence of that. Quite the opposite actually.

Our norms and civility? You destroyed that. You’ve been doing it for years. Changing voting rules a month before the election against the states constitution. What happened to the resist crowd? You used to love that.

There’s no part of our nation your type hasn’t been trying to destroy for 250 years. It’s been a goal for that long. Now you are worried about losing it? A bit late.

He’s talking about people who question the integrity of the election. That’s 60 million voters.
Not the people that are that polite lol...About 10 million. Poor America....They have to believe crap to question the integrity etc, AND question the integrity of the FBI, DOJ, judges, EVERYONE you name it. Conspiracy nuttery.....Everyone outside the GOP bubble agrees. IN THE WORLD....the BBC France 24, le Monde- everyone but Murdoch and nuts here....
