On Jan 6, did Congress/ Mike Pence have the authority to overrule the States Electoral Votes?

Does a Congress or the Vice President have the authority to overturn States EVs?

Bernie using the word “revolution” is not the same as Trump ordering an attack on the Capitol
Trump did not order an attack on the Capitol. It's all in your head. Asking people to protest and "fight like hell" isn't any different than Bernie calling for a revolution and his followers going bonkers because of it.

Lets see….

Trump created the BIG LIE
He fed it to his followers
He sent an irate mob to the Capitol
He sat by and giggled as they attacked our Capitol

He didn’t?

He enraged the mob with a lie and sent them to the Capitol to do something about it.
Then stood by and watched
Yep, he sent them to the capitol, to peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard. He never once told them to go into the capitol and never told them to be violent and to cause damage.

You all are trying to say Trump subliminally programmed those people and riled them up and hoped, without ever saying so, that they would take his words and ignore the peaceful and patriotic words and just go start rioting at the capitol. He even said they were going to go and cheer them on, well not all of them.

I agree, if he really did go and watch all this happen on TV as has been said, then that was a crappy thing to do, and you might have something you can pin on him for that, but, he never told them to riot. He told them to make their voices heard and to cheer them on.

You are suggesting that he based his whole "stop the steal" plan on the crowd engaging in violence and attacking the Capitol, without him ever saying it.

Makes a nice Bumper Sticker but it is far from the truth

Trump created the lie
Trump used the lie to enrage the mob
He sent that enraged mob to the Capitol

If he wanted them to peacefully and patriotically assemble…..Why did he wait three hours to call them off?

Those were his words. They are available for everyone to hear.

You are assuming that Trump knew he lost and was going to try and take the presidency anyway. There is no indication that Trump knew he lost. In fact, he believed he had won, so, it wasn't a "big lie". It can't be a lie if you believe what you are saying to be true. If you have evidence that he knew for a fact that he had lost, I'd be interested in seeing that.

He didn't use the lie to enrage the mob. Yes, he held rallies, and he repeated that he believed the election to have been stolen, just as democrats would do if they believed the election to have been fraudulent. Just like you all did in 2016. You all claimed fraud, collusion and all that in 2016. Trump promoting the stolen election theory was no different than what you all did in 2016.

I agree with you here. He should have stopped it immediately, but that doesn't mean his intent was for it to start. We don't know what his reasoning was, but, we can see his actions leading up to the riot. Yes, he held rallies and claimed the election was stolen, yes, he sent them to the capitol, but, he never even hinted at an attack on the capitol. His words were the opposite of that.

His actions before the riot incited the mob

He told the mob…..The election was stolen from YOU.
YOU need to do something about it

Like most things Trump, his actions do not match his words
The only actions he promoted were peaceful, patriotic, cheering, make voices heard. The rest is an assumption that he tried to incite the crowd in hopes they would carry out his plan, but do so without him ever actually telling them to do so.

Trump made the mob irate with his election lie
He told THEM to do something about it

When their response was anything but peaceful, he ignored pleas to stop it and giggled as they stormed the Capitol

Are you saying that in 2016, when you all claimed collusion and fraud, that was incitement?

Are you saying when Maxine waters told people to harass members of the preidents staff in public, that was incitement? (That actually was incitement, because she actually made a call to action)

Are you saying when Pelosi called the republicans the enemy of democracy, and the a Bernie supporter who claimed "the Republicans are the taliban of the u.s.a.", then shot up a baseball field, is also incitement?

You all didn't make a fuss about these things.

All politicians hold political rallies, and they all make claims against the other side. He'll, I listen to hard core progressive talk radio and EVERYTHING they say is incitement.

Politicians speak in rhetoric all the time, and all of them do it, and Trump was no different. He believed the election to be stolen, so he pushed that at his rallies, just as any other politician would (and has done). This time it turned out bad, but that doesn't mean that Trump actually planned for it to happen. If you have evidence that an attack on the capitol was planned, that it was his intention, then that is evidence we need to see.

Giggled? Do we have this on video? I want to see him giggling about the attack on the capitol.

Yeah, he did tell them to do something about it, he told them to make their voices heard. He never said anything about rioting. You all want this to be about some psychological subliminal programmed zombie rage response to trumps claims of a stolen election.

Again, you're saying that trumps plan was hinged on the crowd acting the way he hoped they would, when they could have very easily done the opposite.

I'm not saying what happened was right, im saying that you can't take political rallies and say that trump intended on this happening, when there is no evidence to suggest his goal was a riot.

1. Democrats had the big lie for four years. They had that first amendment right, just as Trump does.

2. ???????????? Yes, Democrats and Republicans both lie to their followers. Biden does it now.

3. Democrats encourage protesting and marching on our Capitol. Why can't Trump or the Republicans? It is another first amendment right.

4. ???????????????? LOL. Well, let's say that is true. Trump doesn't have a first amendment right to giggle when he wants?

Bottom line, Trump did not tell anyone to attack the Capitol. "Fight like hell" isn't any different than Bernie calling for a revolution. Does anyone have any proof that Trump meant that literally? Trump can't get anti-vaxxers to get vaccinated and couldn't have stopped the Captitol riots because he was never in charge of them in the first place.

All true. So, what does that have to do with Trump's first amendment rights? Yes, Bernie called for a revolution several times, one of his followers believed him and went and attacked our democracy by shooting up Republicans. Bernie is not responsible for the acts of his followers because Bernie has first amendment rights to call for a revolution if he wants, even if one of his followers took him literally and attacked our democracy. Trump has the very same first amendment rights.
