Our New Speaker Thinks the Earth is 6,000 Years Old

The Spanish Flu wasn’t during modern times, certainly not medically speaking. COVID is way worse than SARS precisely because it is way worse.

Conservatives trashed medical institutions and scientific processes because they didn’t like the implications. They didn’t want to believe COVID was a problem. They wanted to believe it was a conspiracy to “get Trump”. They still do. Even now you see people say it was just like the flu.

That’s why conservatism is anti-science.

1918 was certainly modern times. And considering we can barely treat viruses right now anyway, it's an apt comparison.

We trashed the overkill response and ignorance of other causes of mortality and economic effects vs. going all in on COVID once it was found to be targeted on the old and sick.

Right now it is pretty much just like the flu. It has attenuated itself over time, and most of the really really vulnerable have had it, been vaccinated and had it, or have died due to it.

Remember your side contains the idiots that mask when walking by themselves and driving in their cars by themselves.

Progs are the ones who trashed medical institutions and scientific processes. They told more lies during the COVID panic than we've ever heard from the government previously.

Of course not. Because on one side you have decades of careful scientific work and on the other side you have Jim Bob who doesn’t know anything about carbon dating but thinks its wrong.

We have to treat those equally.

As American citizens, talking about issues that impact us all, yes.

I trust those scientists in their narrow field of expertise and only with regards on the processes, tests and procedures involved. What we do about it as a society is for everyone to figure out, with no added gravitas given to them.

Let's see how much you actually hold to scientific principles.

How many genders are there?

Just like with global climate change. "I don't believe it" as if we are dealing with Santa. There is nothing to believe, just to understand .Just say you don't understand climate change

What most of us don't believe in is the response the left wants to implement.

Less freedom, more government, lower standards of living.

Sure. 1918 was just like modern times, they had everything except antivirals, antibiotics, radiology, mechanical ventilation, and vaccines. Door.

Conservatives needed to downplay the severity of the pandemic in order to label responses as overkill without sounding like callous assholes. That’s why they lied constantly about it and trashed the scientific community who was trying to correct the lies.

Your side died by the hundreds of thousands because conservatism is anti-science. But yeah, that’s the same as someone wearing a mask when they didn’t need to.

LOL, did you even think about what you posted.

They had Iron lungs in the 1800;s. X-rays were in use by 1905 or so, vaccines go back even further.

Anti-biotics would be just as useless then as now on viral infections.

So all the school shutdowns and extended closures weren't overkill even after we found out kids were basically unharmed by COVID unless they had existing conditions?

No, we don’t have to consider Jim Bob’s opinion with the same value as a subject matter expert.

The idea that we do is absurd.
