pastor whining because town bans church on the beach

This thread is a huge fail.

You have an anarchist OP ranting about how the government should deny a pastor the freedom to preach on a beach.

Just more proof that anarchists are fools.

or have the mentality of a ten year old.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly held that the First Amendment requires public school officials to be neutral in their treatment of religion, showing neither favoritism toward nor hostility against religious expression such as prayer. [ 2 ] Accordingly, the First Amendment forbids religious activity that is sponsored by the government but protects religious activity that is initiated by private individuals...

i bet the OP starter has no problem if there is a loud volleyball game going on because that is not religious

bigot

I actually wouldn't like it but find it far less offensive than some xtian nut screaming I am going to hell for not believing in jeebus.

i wouldn't appreciate anyone screaming i'm going to hell

the pastor in question, however, was not screaming. thus, you once again exhibit dishonesty regarding your thread.

What an arrogant ass to think that your pleasure trumps other peoples rights to the free exercise of religion. If you don't want to hear some nut rant, walk the other way. The rest of us are not here to ensure your tender ears don't hear something you don't like.

You do not have the free exercise of religion on public tax-supported lands. You are regulated for access just like everyone else. Being religious is not an exception, nor is the Great Witness.

How do you come to that conclusion? Is there an exception clause in the bill of rights?

I'm wondering if the Congressional Chaplain has been made aware of this rule

He was given permission by the Congress, right? Or he got up there and started preaching and screeching?

Yurt is saying that a preacher has the right to and can get up anywhere and preach to folks on public property?

Link for that, and the reactionary agrees that there is a limitation on what a pastor can do.

Thanks for that.

Doesn't sound like you've given anarchism much thought then.
Oh indeed I have...but most people are to comfy in their socialist government they have now to consider a governmentless life.

See, that's what I find so funny about your OP.

Because it's in fact the big-government socialists that would have a problem with a preacher having a sermon in public. Not an "anarchist" such as yourself.

Simply put, your arguments contradict your ideology.
I am not contradicting anything. I HATE RELIGION...now I am of the mind set that he has a church use it. People willingly come there to listen to him preach there is no reason to go to a public beach and preach other than to annoy and harass people. I am an Anarchist when it comes to having no government.

How do you know?

How on Earth does praying on a beach constitute the state endorsing a religion?

You fuckers are completely nuts. Seriously, you are some fucked up assholes.

He wants to pray...he can pray. If he wants to be loud and bother people who are trying to enjoy a day at the beach, then he becomes a public nuisance.

True.

And jurisdictions are entitled to place restrictions on First Amendment rights supported by a compelling governmental interest, including the desire to keep public places and property attractive and available to the general population. See: Clark v. Community for Creative Non-Violence (1984).

No one is stopping asswipes from speaking. But please, go speak over there where I can't hear your nonsense.

He was having service...have you ever been to a xtian church? I have and yes they scream, yell, stop their feet,"talk in tongues" etc.

another falsehood that you think gullible people will swallow up

some churches do preach like that, most, however, do not

that is a simple fact

and given your statement includes all churches, i suggest you go to an SDA church and then come back an apologize for your bigotry
