pastor whining because town bans church on the beach

where did he say he went up and preached to people?

you're just a religious bigot

Dumbass. He is preaching on a public beach in the middle of summer...Ya seriously think NO ONE else besides his sheeple could hear him? I doubt it. I love taking walks with my wife on the beach and do not need some idiot like him ruining my day with his rants.

What an arrogant ass to think that your pleasure trumps other peoples rights to the free exercise of religion. If you don't want to hear some nut rant, walk the other way. The rest of us are not here to ensure your tender ears don't hear something you don't like.

You do not have the free exercise of religion on public tax-supported lands. You are regulated for access just like everyone else. Being religious is not an exception, nor is the Great Witness.

How do you come to that conclusion? Is there an exception clause in the bill of rights?

Pastor Fights Back After Delaware Town Bans Church Services on Rehoboth Beach | Fox News Insider

During an appearance on Fox and Friends, Pastor Dekker, of the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, said that the city manager’s decision to ban beach services “created a real problem for me because my calling as a pastor is to communicate the gospel by word and by deed to ourselves, to our neighbors, and to the world so that the wonders of the gospel may be known by folks.”

Uh no dickhead....its not. You are to communicate to people who choose to come to your church...not harass people on a beach with your ranting and raving.

First, the command of Jesus is to take the Gospel into the world, not to wait for the world to ask about it, so the pastor is right.

Second, unless the town manager is telling everyone that comes along that they cannot use the beach to have meetings the town is banning speech based on content, and is wrong.

You don't know that, QWB, and try being respectful. The content is required to be examined if it is to be presented on tax-supported property. You have no idea if the town manager is giving equal access or not. You need to do some more research.

The only thing I stated in that post was that the pastor is right that it is his job to spread the Gospel by word and deed. Want to explain which part of that I got wrong, or just might be wrong about?

What I speculated is that the town is wrong if they allow other people to use the beach to speak or hold public meetings. Every single court case you can find is 100% behind me, the town cannot impose content based restrictions on speech in those circumstances. They either ban all such meetings, or allow all of them.

That is also 100% correct, but I do not know what the town policy actually is, so I used a conditional clause.

What an arrogant ass to think he has the right to harass other people and cause disruption in a public place meant for peace and quiet and enjoying yourself not hellfire and brimstone and dancing angels on a pen...

Yes I do. You seem to think the fact that the government cannot support a religion means that they can ban it.

Jake's brain is an exception clause.

The arrogance here is you thinking people have the right not to be insulted. If it actually worked that way I could get all huffy and demand that the staff ban you because you insult me.

Doesn't sound like you've given anarchism much thought then.

We don't have the right to be insulted but there is a line between insulting and harassment/causing disruption and you can be charged...I know I have been. :)

Sure, when the original affirmation by Soggy is supported. It has not been. Go back and look.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly held that the First Amendment requires public school officials to be neutral in their treatment of religion, showing neither favoritism toward nor hostility against religious expression such as prayer. per your usual, refusal to back up a claim when asked. i don't care what anyone else said, i politely asked you to back up YOUR claim and once again, you failed to do so and now put the blame on someone else.

do you have any personal responsibility?

I actually wouldn't like it but find it far less offensive than some xtian nut screaming I am going to hell for not believing in jeebus.

See, that's what I find so funny about your OP.

Because it's in fact the big-government socialists that would have a problem with a preacher having a sermon in public. Not an "anarchist" such as yourself.

Simply put, your arguments contradict your ideology.
