I've met lots of folks who don't vote and don't even follow politics or elections enough to know what is going on. They don't vote because they are sure it makes no difference. Nothing those guys do in D.C. ever make any difference in how their lives go. They're POOR--born poor, grew up poor, still poor--they've always been treated like lower class scum and they've checked out of the caring train.

You'll get in your gas-guzzler, drive to the polling place, stand in the cold waiting to get in, your body warmth seeping away, warming the atmosphere. Then under a minute to vote the party line for a host of candidates already doomed to fail.
