Half of the United States are threatening to secede while citizens in twenty states are already petitioning the Obama Administration to peacefully withdraw from the United States of America to create their own governments due to continual human rights abuses being committed at the federal level as it instead protects corporate interests.

States following Louisiana, the first state to take this action, include: Texas, Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee, Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, South Carolina, Arkansas, New Jersey, Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, Mississippi, Michigan, New York, Florida, Indiana and Kentucky.

 yeah, all those blue state cons want to get out.

oh wait...

Ha,ha, you must not know how to count. How many are red? How many are blue?

Figure it out.

In other words, you're an idiot and a coward that can't admit when you are wrong.

and you still haven't read the link.

I asked for State Governments that asked to leave, you gave me a link to citizen petitions.

buffoon.

California can and should be divided into North and South as well.

You could divide any state in 2. The 2 new states would be embarrassingly partisan and the country would suffer. But whatever if it makes people feel better...

Yep. Let's just carve the whole country up into left and right states; there isn't enough partisanship in the US as it is.

I'm from Washington and Oregon (lived in both states a long time). Each state is liberal on the coast and conservative in the east. We could divide both of those states into two states too. Wouldn't that be so cool?

We see this in states where one faction doesn't get its way on stuff.

For instance, we used to have all these discussion in IL when the Downstate Rubes didn't like the fact Chicago had too much influence.

We probably should give Puerto Rico statehood, but that would mean giving 8 more seats in the house and two in the Senate to Democrats.

.

I'm wondering why we even need to worry about adding states.

Now that we're clearly headed away from federalism and toward a centralized federal government, and now that we're no longer worried about assimilation, why does this matter?

Let's just erase all state borders and hand control over to Our Great & Glorious Leaders In Central Planning™. They certainly know what they're doing, they know what's best for us. That appears to be the goal of the Left, and they're definitely getting their way.

No more pesky state governments to get in the way. Holy crap, think of all the money we'd save on stationery.

And it still pops-up in Illinois on a regular basis.

Oh, and don't forget... the collar-counties (surrounding Chicago) are part of the 'downstate rubes' you're talking about, and they contain of the Income-Generating Households in the State; you know, the ones who keep that $hithole known as the City of Chicago afloat...

The City's Transit Authority and School System have been a huge net drain upon the State for decades now, and folks elsewhere have long-since grown tired of propping-up a municipality that taxes the hell out of its business tax-base and insists upon ultra-high consumer sales-taxes - some of the highest in the country - serving to drive-out far more business and Income-Generators than it attracts...

The Democratic Machine in Chicago has been running things since the Great Depression, and they've managed to run Chicago into the ground...

Twenty blocks to the West or the South of the downtown (Loop) area and you're entering miles and miles of some of the worst ghetto $hitholes in the country... much of the North Side is almost as bad as the West and South Sides... only the East Side is still in tolerable shape, and that's because the East Side is actually Lake Michigan.

Maybe it's time to burn the thing down to the ground again, like in the Great Fire of 1871, and start over; figuratively, if not literally...

Starting with City Hall, and the City Council...

And no.. not talking PR...

Northern Colorado wants to secede from Colorado

Intriguing to say the least... because one can easily see the divide between urban progressives and rural conservatives in CO...

Thoughts???
All states have the same problem as Colorado; the needs and interests of rural areas differ widely from urban areas. What makes Colorado any different than other states? If all our states broke apart on the lines of divergent interest we would have 100 states. Turning one state into two states just creates more government and more duplication of effort.

Not a good idea

You're ass-u-me-ing Puerto Rico wants statehood.

There are those (on both sides of The Pond) who claim that the United Kingdom is the 51st State...

Mostly to piss-off the Brits, of course, but containing a kernel of truth, from time to time...

We could do worse, and so could they, but it'll probably have to wait until the Muslims are poised to take power...

Which means day-after-tomorrow...

Then again, is it too late to ask the Brits to take us back?
