I can't say we didn't warn people this would happen, but when senior Republican strategists talk like this three months from election day something is seriously afoot. I'm beginning to think Donald Trump gifts Democrats with the House and the Senate, besides the presidency. And no one is to blame but Republicans who supported this man and made him the national nominee.

"....As if that weren’t enough, Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak on Thursday posted an epic tweetstorm describing the abject panic that has set in among Republicans, who now fear that they’ll suffer massive down-ballot losses if Trump stays on his current course.

“OK, this shit’s not funny anymore,” he began. “Trump is threatening elected GOPers at all levels in places that haven’t been competitive in decades… We are looking at an extinction-level event.”

Among other things, Mackowiak ripped Trump for continuing to campaign in Connecticut when any hope of winning that state is long gone. He also said that Trump needs to dial back his rallies and TV interviews, and spend an average of 20 hours a week doing preparation for the fall debates.

Does that sound like something Trump would really agree to? Probably not, but Mackowiak insisted that Trump had to do it anyway. “You can’t overstate panic inside GOP currently,” he said." ‘This sh*t’s not funny’: Strategist explains that Trump is causing an ‘extinction event’ for the GOP

Uh yeah... Took them this long to figure that out? Maybe they should stop listening to Cheney's hairbrained schemes and start giving more air time to decent electable candidates in their primaries. What is Dick now, 0 for 3? Oh well, there's always 2020. Hopefully by then, hindsight will be 2020..if there is such a thing as a republican conservative then.

But what other schemes would you expect from a "republican" neocon who supports gay marriage, wife and he raised by democrats and who dodged the Vietnam draft 5 times? Trump ain't the only RINO traitor in the republican party..

Depending on which Trump supporter you speak to, this may actually be the goal.

Burn the whole thing to the ground, get rid of the RINOs, and then rise like a Phoenix from the ashes.

Where the votes would come from, outside of the echo chamber, is anyone's guess.

Yeah cuz by 2020 the dem-cult will have another generation raised up to worship atheism and ass-sex; smoking dope and living off the dole. Anyone outside that ilk will be considered a freak. They certainly won't even belong to a significant minority by then.

Well judging by all the gay action going on in Cleveland during the RNC, I have to say you safely have the ass sex action locked up, and then there's the problem with red state handouts, the rest of the stuff you're probably doing well without any help from dems and maybe that's your real problem.

Yep, when you let the RINOS infiltrate the GOP, their mental disease starts to spread "as normal". But then that was the end result the masters of the cult of LGBT were hoping for when they launched the "Log Cabin Republican" RINO club.

I have to say it is funny. A million metaphors could paint the picture of how the GOP got to this position. The guy sitting on the tree limb sawing away, he being on the side of the limb that will fall off once cut through works.

There was an unholy alliance put together in the 80s between evangelicals and corporatists in the Republican party. The corporatists who controlled the party used social issues to get evangelicals out to the polls in large numbers to get their votes. The problem is once the corporatist Republicans were elected they only feigned to try to implement the social issue changes they promised. And for 25 years they used fear to keep the kristian vote in line. But the kristians finally figured out they were being played. Nothing has really ever changed when the Republicans got into power regarding the few social issues the 'christians in name only' were so passionate about.

The party is finally over. There is no way for the corporatists in the Republican party to put this genie back in the bottle. The secret is out now. The Republican Party is about to explode.

Here's the deal, if the radical left was sure that Trump would cause an "extinction event" they would stand back and let it happen. The fact is that it isn't even Labor Day, which is the kickoff of the political season, and it seems that the left is so panicked that they are playing their whole freaking deck of cards before Hillary is forced to answer questions about a dozen scandals swirling around the democrat party. Trump would be a welcome breath of fresh air in the old political system and the old political drones are quaking in their boots knowing that the good life at taxpayer expense that they used to enjoy is now in jeopardy.

It's the right wing strategists who are panicking, Democrats aren't even worried since Clinton has come out of her convention with a bounce and has added to it quite substantially. The only "scandal" was the DNC email and that didn't apply to Clinton, although many tried to stick it on her. The Foundation isn't a scandal because there is no law or even a federal regulation covering it and again, no email connected directly to Hillary Clinton. If that's all the Republicans have keep them coming. Meanwhile, everyday your candidate opens his mouth and inserts his foot and more Republicans donate and rally around Clinton.

In your opinion, when did they "let RINOs infiltrate the GOP"?

Historically, Congressional Republicans and Democrats have been able to cooperate to some degree.

The sainted Ronald Reagan coined the 80% Rule, which is now completely ignored by so much of the party. And he certainly was The Establishment. Positive things happened when he and Tip O'Neill cooperated. Positive things were accomplished when Clinton and Gingrich cooperated. If a Republican cooperates with the Democrats now, holy shit, they're "primaried" and called commies.

I think it's the opposite. It's the absolutists who listen to too much talk radio and read too much conservative internet who "infiltrated" and took over the GOP who caused it to eat itself.
