Susan Collins may be forced to vote No on Brett Kavanagh

People can tell you that whether they are religious or not. And, with enough support, can enforce it as a rule of law. But that is not the point here anyway.

Now, define "free exercise" without sounding like an idiot.

But that's exactly the point here, guy. Keep your backward ass bronze age superstitions to yourselves.

No, that's your point, and it is erroneous. The language of the amendment is quite clear.

you can keep telling yourself that, but the Founders had this one right. They didn't want a war over religion every few years because they got a new King who didn't think Jesus was made out of wafers. which is pretty much what England had gone through since this guy wanted a divorce.

If Susan Collins votes no she will become a GOP outcast.
So a Senator shouldn't vote as the people of her state and her conscience wants her to? Ok....interesting.

She's a Republican. Probably voted in by a majority of Republicans. If she votes NO, Republicans should vote her lard ass out of office. Problem solved.
Assuming they've got the votes.....however, you are hemorrhaging women right now.
That is only what you hope to be true.

Is that what the people, that voted a republican into office in a blue state, want her to do?

Or is the voters that voted against her being elected want her to do?

A lot of her support is across party lines, Democrats and independents. There are not nearly enough Republicans in Maine to save her in 2020 if she votes YES on Kavanagh. Its sad, but I think that is the reality.

What does Collins tell Maine voters, vote for me and I'll vote with the Democrats on the issues? :cuckoo:
Do you think she was elected by Mainers anticipating that they wanted her to vote for a drunk misogynist who doesn't have the temperament to get a lifetime appointment to the highest court of the land?
Misogynists don’t coach girls basketball teams and they certainly don’t have mostly female clerks.

White men and women will maintain control over our communities no matter what happens.

Oh, great another ANTI- RELIGIOUS BIGOT! Go to North Korea, you'll have more in common with the people there when it comes to Religion.

Naw, man, I'm sorry you don't get it. North Korea is what you guys want, adherence to a cult without thinking.

If you want to do something, you have to come up with something a little better than "A sky Pixie said so 3000 years ago."

When you get sick, you don't pray to get better. You do go a guy who studied medicine and hope he has a way to cure you...

Is the United States an ATHEIST NATION? No. More than 90% of people believe in some form of the supernatural in the United States. You have more in common in a country where most people attack religion and do not believe in GOD than you do in one that does.

Your hostility to people of religious faith is evident in your posts. Go some place where more people share your hostility to religion and open attacks on it.

We don't force anyone into any particular religion in the United States. We respect all religions. On the contrary, you are apart of community that openly attacks religion and people of faith. Americans don't want people who are HOSTILE to religion in their country. Go to another country where people share your open attacks, derision and hostility to religion.

The United States Values and respects religious identity. WE ARE NOT AN ATHEIST NATION. IN GOD WE TRUST is on all are money. The practice of government every day often begins with prayers or ends with them. When we take an oath it is often on the bible or other religious document.

Finally, most Americans both pray and go to the doctor when they are sick. So that's not any test of religion at all.

Most Americans think quiet a bit. More than 90% also believe in some form of God. The United States is the wealthiest and most powerful nation in the world. It is also one of the most religious as well in terms of belief in God. If you think a majority Atheist nation is better at science and medicine, why don't you go there? I suspect you won't though. You'll be staying in the United States, the IN GOD WE TRUST United States.

Most of the founders prayed to GOD and certainly did not resist prayer in government or a Cross on a wall in a classroom. Just as we do to today. A federal government with a President, 100 Senators and 435 Representatives who currently ALL believe in some form of the supernatural. Stop attacking religious people! If you want to do that, go to a country where that behavior is approved of.

Yawn ....another coward pretending to not see the obvious. Go gaslight another brain dead liberal.
But it’s illustrative that you consider defending himself as a privilege he should be denied. And illustrative you can only see him as a white male.
The fact remains he didn’t retreat with his tail between his legs. Shocking enough in this age that you don’t know how to defeat him. Same with Donald Trump.
Go ahead...whine that he backsassed a certified victim. See how far it gets you. I think those days are ending.

Um, guy, let's get real here.

If you asked a prospective employee about something that came up in a background check, and he started ranting bizarre conspiracy theories at the HR Committee the way Kavanaugh did, no company in their right mind would hire him.

Sorry, Trump's schtick about attacking everyone who even mildly criticizes him is getting old with a lot of people.

This is not a normal job interview so don't even begin to compare it to that. An allegation of a crime as been made and this is full view of the entire WORLD. Most job interviews are done in private. This is a nomination to the supreme court and has everything to do with reputation, politics, public opinion, and many other factors that have NOTHING to do with your stereotypical job interview.

Susan Collins is a Republican in a firmly BLUE STATE. On a divisive issue like this, she is not going to risk her career.

Being a Senator (or a House Representative or President) was never intended to be a CAREER.

As to Collins, she is another POS worthless back-stabbing RINO whom the GOP foolishly let run under the Republican banner. We will pay the price yet again.

Most all of the founders had jobs or professions. Doctors, farmers, business owners, lawyers, and other responsibilities. They expected to serve a minimum number of terms and return to private lives. I doubt if the founders envisioned anyone making a career of politics as people like Schumer, Finklestein, Leahy, etc. Of course people will never agree to term limits when those positions make the office holders beyond filthy rich.

Do you have trouble with reading comprehension? Were you dropped on your head as a baby a bunch of times?

Go back and read what I said, and when you have a clear understanding, get back to me and we can have a conversation, stupid.

Most of the founders prayed to GOD and certainly did not resist prayer in government or a Cross on a wall in a classroom.

Most of our founders thought Bleeding was an effective medical treatment, shit in chamber pots and owned slaves. But even they knew the craziness of state religion or religion as public policy. They looked at 200 years of Civil War in England over what religion the King was this week, and knew that wasn't much of a plan.

A federal government with a President, 100 Senators and 435 Representatives who currently ALL believe in some form of the supernatural.

Or at least that's what they tell you. If you really think your betters actually believe in talking snakes, you are kind of naive.

Wait a minute, you are arguing that his crazy angry drunk routine wasn't disqualifying because it was done in public? Really?

Again, the founders shit in chamber pots and thought bleeding was a good medical treatment.

The fact is, we need professional politicians, as much as we resent them, because the intricacies of 21st century policy are beyond most people who have jobs. If you had revolving doors on those offices, the guys who would have all the power would be unelected staffers, because they'd be the only ones knowing what was going on.

No one is "forced" to vote no on a qualified candidate. If the FBI supplemental background check clears Kav, he should get at least all GOP votes, and then a few dem votes from red state dems. If the vote for Kav fails, then we can wait for the mid-term results to see if we replaced some RINOs with solid GOP votes and can pass Kav in January. The GOP is expected to pick up 3 or 4 Senate seats in the mid-terms.

Really? Because the way it looks right now, the GOP is going to lose seats in NV, TN and AZ. They might pick up SD.

We might even get the folks to get tired of Creepy Ted Cruz and get rid of him.

Disagree with your analysis. Long time pols don't know how to do anything except get re-elected. Years ago there was a study called the Grace Commission that tried to streamline the Federal Government. It failed since the pols liked their troughs just the way they are. Every so often I like to shake up "the swamp", in this case to toss out the "globalists" who gave tax breaks to move US factories overseas. The Trump era began with "culture shock", but seems to be stabilizing. To your point, we need professional experts in government to dot the i's and cross the t's. But the direction of the country needs to be set by the ones elected. Change is good, it allows us to see what the parties' policies are and which we want to elect. One of the biggest problems the US has right now is how the MSM and their fake news outlets slant the "news" against the Trump administration, being 95% negative, as compared to 67% positive for the Obama administration. You'd think "news" would be less partisan.
