The Republican Party of Texas is considering a platform that appears to endorse the death penalty for abortion providers and patients.

Texas delegates voted on a 2024 platform at the state’s GOP Convention on Saturday and aim to tally the votes by Wednesday to finalize their platform for the coming year. The proposal called for new legislation to solidify fetal personhood ideology into law, define abortion care as homicide and criminalize in vitro fertilization, first reported by feminist writer Jessica Valenti.

The 50-page document also includes a slew of other far-right ideas such as proclaiming that gender-affirming care is “child abuse,” requirements that Christianity and the Bible be taught in public schools, and clarifies that Texas “retains the right to secede from the United States.”

The platform is seen as more of a wish list than a binding document, but it’s a critical reflection of how far right the Texas Republican Party has moved in recent years.

The GOP platform calls for an “equal protection of the laws to all preborn children from the moment of fertilization,” and later states that “abortion is not healthcare, it is homicide.” The phrase “equal protection of the law” is used in the anti-choice movement to define abortion as homicide, and criminalizes abortion physicians and patients as murderers.

I guess it depends on priorities.

The theocrats may have determined that, while this is an important topic to many voters, it's not the MOST important topic. So it may be that they figure they can slip something like this in there and get away with it. They may be right, at least as long as Texas doesn't go purple.

Such is the fascist right’s contempt for individual liberty, the rule of law, and the Constitution.

Have you ever asked yourself "if we're the good guys, why do I have to lie so much?".

I guess it depends on priorities.

The theocrats may have determined that, while this is an important topic to many voters, it's not the MOST important topic. So it may be that they figure they can slip something like this in there and get away with it. They may be right, at least as long as Texas doesn't go purple.

In which Mac--accusing us of being in a cult--responds to this BS article about getting the DEATH PENALTY for abortion seriously.

Did the GOP in Texas vote on it?

Is it likely to be part of their platform this election cycle? Yes.

So how many sources would you like to show that this is true? How many does it take before you admit, if only to yourself, that this is true?

Looks like more fascist fear mongering to me, as long as Democrats profit from the torture and death of innocent babies instead of the simplicity of responsible birth control, they’ll be States and a political party that will serve their inhumanity and heartless behavior at taxpayers expense.

totally sick, this group within the GOP.

And of course nowhere in the platform linked to is there a call for the death penalty.

Nothing to see here but a bunch of faggot baby killers whining and pretending they care about women. Soon they will be in another thread endorsing the brutal rapes and murders of women and children by Hamas as a legitimate tactic and sniveling for Israelis to just take it and stop resisting the vermin.
