The Bible Declares That A Rich Man Has Little Chance To Get To Heaven

I'm sure as hell (uh, no pun intended there) no expert on biblical matters, but I do wonder how wealthy Christians square this with their investment portfolios. Maybe there's another verse in there that cancels this out or something, huh?
.
Yes, considering what you do that should make you an agent of Satan. Unless of course you never really make anyone rich.
Why so defensive?

Seems like a fair question. What's the answer, do you suppose?
.

Not defensive at all. It just amazes me how folks will comment on things that they do not know.
Holy crap, I admitted that right up front, and I'm asking a question!

What's wrong with that?

Does anyone ELSE want to answer this?
.

It is not the part having money that is the sin but how you obtained it and how you share it could be consider the sin...

If I obtain my money through working hard and saving while contributing to the greater good to the community through charitable donations and projects that equal ten percent of my wealth then am I a sinner?

Now I obtain my wealth through cheating the system while denying to help those that have less than I am, am I a saint?

No human can live a righteous and sinless life, but we can strive to be better than what most of us are...

( Now can I get a Amen and Praise the Lord!?! )

.
This is another false stereotype perpetrated by the left.
How much money you have isn't what is important. How much you love money is.
If you'll do anything for money, you'll never see the kingdom of God. If you're generous with your wealth.....that's a different story.

My question is "How Much Is Rich?"
---
Did you find your answer yet?
If so, what is it?
If not, what's the best one so far?

Perhaps the answer could be an Islamic one. More than 90% of a family's income is "rich", but instead of giving the 10% to a religious institution, it should go to a libertarian government.
Just a thought.
.

My question is "How Much Is Rich?"

Rich is relative. The poor of America are rich in comparison to the poor in Africa. The man with one shoe is richer than the man with no shoes. I guess what you need to do first is define rich. A lot of money, does that make one rich? A happy secure life, does that make someone rich? If rich is defined as someone with more then me then there are a whole lot of rich people.

So, is your OP actually a quote from the Bible? You are indicating it to be a quote. Could you provide the chapter and verse, please? The Version of the Bible you quote would be helpful.

Matthew 19:

23And Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24"Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Luke 16:
14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. 15 He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight. 16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it. 17 It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law. 18 “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. 19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ 25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ 27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ 29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ 30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ 31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ “

Humans will lawyer anything to fit their desires. Many in America lawyer the bible so rich is anyone that has more money than they do, no matter how much they have. "It's relative" is the battle cry of the money changers who want to keep their wealth as they step over the poor.

'Twas always thus and always thus will be.

It's looking more and more like the Haves and Have Nots in America:

That the rich are getting richer while ordinary, everyday working Americans are getting screwed by the wealthy. It's been happening ever since Reagan slashed tax rates for the rich to the lowest levels in our history:

How very odd you stopped at 2009

How very odd that you didn't bring up that Obama in his eight years will double the debt, DOUBLE it.

How very odd that you failed to mention that everything you claim was caused by Bush/Reagan could have been reversed by the Democrats. The Bush tax cuts could be gone. For ONE full year the Democrats controlled all three branches and what exactly did they do? Wall Street reform, DONE. Budgets, they never even tried to pass a budget. Even though done unconstitutionally at least there is now a signed budget. A budget doubling the debt.

Obama presidency to end with $20 trillion national debt

When President Obama signs into law the new two-year budget deal Monday, his action will bring into sharper focus a part of his legacy that he doesn’t like to talk about: He is the $20 trillion man.

Mr. Obama’s spending agreement with Congress will suspend the nation’s debt limit and allow the Treasury to borrow another $1.5 trillion or so by the end of his presidency in 2017. Added to the current total national debt of more than $18.15 trillion, the red ink will likely be crowding the $20 trillion mark right around the time Mr. Obama leaves the White House.

The current Republican front runner is a billionaire who has admitted to buying favors from politicians of opposing views so he could make more money. Very Christian of him.

I see him humbling himself before the Lord on a regular basis....at least once in his lifetime...

Where in the Bible does it say hard work and becoming successful is a sin?
It doesn't. Jesus was very strong on generosity, but noted accurately that with great wealth comes great temptation towards corruption and greed. We see it happen frequently among televangelists.

He said that you can't be a slave to two masters...Give up the dough and follow what the guy in a dress says...

The Bible speaks of a rich man who has ungodly gain, in other words, the money was made through illegal methods. God does bless our lives, and allows us to be as rich as we can handle. Some of us cannot handle having lots of money, therefore it would not be wise to let us get too well to do. Some of us are too generous, or easily ripped off by others, so God does us a favor in letting us have only what we can handle, and to be happy with what we have. God also allows those who are not His to attain wealth, as a test to see if they love God, or themselves. What they do with their money is proof of who they love.
