The GOP Is Dying Off. Literally.

The GOP won the biggest mid term election in modern history...
...in the lowest voter turnout in modern history. And a lot more seats changed hands in 2006 than 2014.

In 2006, the Democrats gained 31 seats in the House. In 2014, the GOP gained 13. Though the Democrats only gained 6 Senate seats in 2006 while the GOP gained 9 seats in 2014.

I've heard the death of each party announced so many times it is ridiculous. You learn not to pay attention to such pronouncements.

The only way either party will die is at the hands of a major third party which arises, and there is no sign of that happening any time soon.

You can lead the GOP to facts, but you can't make them accept them. Their voters even rejected their own analysis of why Romney lost because the party is too old, too white, too cozy with rich guys, and too racist. They've been told but we might as well just let them bang their heads against the wall. The party of stupid cannot be helped.
Yup........

Too white.......

Appears like the oft presented stereotype is mostly political propaganda....... go figure.......

Remember the good old days?

When there were actual "Conservatives" in the Republican party?

True. Present-day conservatives and liberals switch their beliefs faster than we notice the change in the political environment. For liberals it is easier. They simply follow public's opinion. You want gay marriage? No problem, we've got gay marriage. You don't like racism? That's the way we feel, as well.
For conservatives it is much harder. They believe - ideally - in eternal values of order and hierarchy. American voters don't want their country to be like this anymore. That's how conservatism dies.

You might nhave a few points if what you say is true, but its not,how bad did conservatism die last election?

Who needs two parties? The first Congress didn't have them, as I understand.

Each democratic country needs at least two parties. Political competition and transparent elections is the answer to the most fundamental problems of American society. Let people decide on their own and in no time they will determine what is really necessary.
One party system automatically becomes a fascist dictatorship. It can be liberal or conservative, it doesn't matter. Representation is a key feature of democratic societies.

No agreement from me. The two year term for representative should take care of everything. Party-less Houses would be an improvement.

But since thinking and intellectual pursuits are an American alergy, 'we gots whud we gots'.

Hillary is 67 and Ted Cruz is 44. Scott Walker is 47. Wouldn't you think Hillary's age would attract senior citizens? Why can't the democrat party attract people who are interested in politics and are able to think and reason unlike kids who who can't even name one of the Founding Fathers?

This is a funny thread, liberals love to say the average age of faux news is like 89?

They so think 30,40,50, 60 year Olds today are not conservative and won't take their place, hell most of all of us were liberals at 18 ...then we grow up
Or get scared.

You just have to laugh at these (the GOP is dying, is dead, is one foot in the grave) blaa blaa blaa

Every frikken election we hear the same old crap. but notice how the Democrat party is NEVER dying? even after they got a HISTORIC ass kicking in the last two midterm elections.

Pollutico. another place for mind numbing nonsense most of the time. the other times they are DNC mouthpeice

There probably are plenty of people who have no idea what the Founding Fathers even are. Unless there's a band by that name. ;)

The Republican Party voter is old—and getting older, and as the adage goes, there are two certainties in life: Death and taxes. Right now, both are enemies of the GOP and they might want to worry more about the former than the latter.

The GOP Is Dying Off. Literally. - Daniel J. McGraw - POLITICO Magazine

If the GOP is actually dying off who is supposed to take their place?
Bipartisan system seems to be pretty stable and to some degree efficient. Without one major party though how are we supposed to make important political choices and shape the future of our nation in a competitive way? Pluralism of opinions and political stances shaped America as we know it. What would be the stimulus for Democratic party in a one-party state?
In the end the demolition of American conservatism is going to undermine the whole country.

It wasn't that long ago back in 2000 that people discussed the idea of a permanent Republican majority. Making long-term trend predictions of this sort is generally very hard to do.

I don't think they are dying off.

Michael Petyo for President 2016

Now, think what you want about this guy (and I'm not a Republican). There are a lot of issues listed that I think if he spent more time investigating might alter his stance and or I flat out do not agree with. You can tell that it's limited. He will never get it. But, his frustration is genuine.

He is just as frustrated as most people.

The GOP has no choice but to change. Right now, the party belongs to their elite squad.

The Democratic party has no choice but to change. Right now, the party belongs to their elite squad.

Neither party has the capacity to even comprehend how the rest of us live and yet, they make decisions that effect everything that we do.

That's why people register as independent or unaffiliated.
