His delivery was crappy, lethargic, wooden to the point where it looked like it bored him also, but I had no problem with with the substance of his 11 minute speech on current situation. Do you really expect him to say "I stopped travel from effected area thinking that would be it, but I was wrong?, I tamped down early warning to avoid early panic and caused people to not take it seriously thereby allowing it to spread basically unchecked until it was too late?, I didn't take steps to ramp up testing, so our medical response establishment were working blind and our healthcare system is not the greatest on earth? All true, but get real. Get over it.
We can get rid of him in November, probably not because he and his merry minions handled this any worse than their sunshine ass blowing ways handled the whole last 3 years, I cannot even state with confidence that another administration would have saved us from the global pandemic. He didn't bring this on us. Neither did the Democrats. When he cut air service from China he was half right. He should and pushed automatic quarantine of anybody from that region in prior 30 days, pushed for and made testing happen when available, political and stock market appearances be damned. Hind sight 20/20. Evil Genie out of the bottle, he continued to minimize and does to a lesser extent today, when off teleprompter. Even on prompter he gives a more glowing picture of the response than is accurate. We should be testing in mass, cranking out the tests, pushing them forward, quarantining as necessary, forced if necessary, ramping up domestic production of protective ware, basically a lot more than we are doing. Containment not possible now. Mitigation is only key left. Pushing for workable vaccine is a must. Older generation may be devastated it is found.
We very well could be the first after this is over, but it's this American trial is just beginning. Doubt he will still be in office when it is over, but not just because of this. Trump puts his foot in it every time he is off prompter. Obama was much smoother and staying on message, but I often did not like what the message was, sometime even if he was right. Ronnie Reagan and slick Willie were the best communicators on or off prompter, then you go back to Kennedy. Before that, I don't remember at all. I was born in 54.

Obama was "smooth" when he was reading from a teleprompter but all that makes him is a "talking head"! On the rare occasions when he was off teleprompter or it had a snafu and didn't work...he sounded anything BUT smooth!

This is just me, White but if I were a legislator I'd make it illegal for a politician to use a teleprompter.

He'll assess the problem...decide the prudent course to take...and have competent people get the things done that need to get done. He's a businessman who's had to make the call on hard decisions most of his life. He won't spend months having "studies" done by focus groups...he won't care about what the pundits say. He's not THAT guy!

Trump's speech tank the markets? Nope. world events and interpretation of world events by the panic prone lil bitches that run the market with their computerized trading tanked the market.
Handle the emergency with his usual assessments and deciding a course of action? That is just what the world is afraid of, and that might have panicked the panic prone lil bitches of the market.
